Food or beryllium tweeters for my DeCapo's Tubeears and I have been corresponding about some tricks for successfully installing the BE tweeter upgrade for the De Capo. The process isn't terribly tricky but there are a few tricks that'll help. If anyone else wants to benefit from my experie...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE I'm with Simao, above. I don't know that my Reference 3A De Capo i/A's (which I recently upgraded with the new, Beryllium tweeter) are my forever speakers but they're awfully good and I'm happier with them than with any of the many other speakers ...
"this is the product Ohm puts out" I'm not surprised that JS responded in this fashion. As I and others have said, he's a good guy.
"this is the product Ohm puts out" As the originator of the "Ohm Micro Walsh Talls Who's Actually Heard 'Em" thread a million posts ago, I thought I might chime in on this topic, even though I have moved on to other speakers.I have no doubt that JS is a good guy. He was very genero...
new refrence 3a mm de capo I had a pair of the De Capo iA's that were about 6 months old and I recently upgraded them to the new BE tweeter. The new tweets made a great speaker even better. I can't say enough good stuff about the De Capo. I am a very happy customer.
Feedback on the current Reference 3a changes ? Tubeears,I've been enjoying my upgraded BE tweeters in my De Capo's for a couple of months and I can tell you that they are anything but bright sounding. More transparent with better ambient space retrieval, but not bright.
Best monitor for under $4000.00 All good choices; a lot will come down to taste and synergy with your room and equipment (duh!) :-)I have owned the Merlins and they are very fine. I currently have the De Capo's and love 'em to pieces.Have fun!
Feedback on the current Reference 3a changes ? PS: I found that coupling the speaker to the stand really helped the sound: bass got a lot surer and tighter. Worth the effort!
Feedback on the current Reference 3a changes ? Blu-Tak (brand name) is a putty like adhesive that can be removed and reused. Ref 3A recommends putting a very small dab on each of the four corners of the top plate of the stand, plus a front-to-back strip. We're talking about pressing down a VER...
Feedback on the current Reference 3a changes ? Let us know how you like them! And do make sure they're coupled to the stands with blu tai, and that they are well broken in. Both things make a big difference.
Feedback on the current Reference 3a changes ? I have a pair of MM De Capo iA's (the ones with the Surreal Acoustic Lens in the center of the Main Driver) in Dark Cherry finish. I updated to the BE tweeter about a 6 weeks ago... still breaking it in. I was concerned myself about the reputation...
'Holographic Sound Stage?' Peterayer,I have Jim Smith's "Get Better Sound." He describes sound staging, imaging and so forth somewhat dismissively as "audiophile sound effects." I know his expertise far exceeds my own, but as I said, I'm not so sure I agree on this point.
'Holographic Sound Stage?' I understand that the imaging and soundstaging we hear in well set up systems (with the right recordings) is perhaps "artificial." None the less, to me it's one of the most fun, pleasurable and at times thrilling aspects of a good system.
Reference 3A speaker stands Toudou,I've seen pictures of the Core Design stands and they look gorgeous. How high off the floor do you have your De Capo's? I sit on a rather high surface (a day bed in our guest room) and I've often wondered how the speakers might sound if I h...
Ref 3A Dulcets vs Vapor sound Nyaudio98:Bass on the Dulcets is pretty astonishingly solid, especially for speakers that petite. |
