???What's The LEAST Expensive "End Game"Amplifier You've Ever Heard??? Preamp: a well-kept, used VAC Renaissance Mk V Amp: for end-game (it could compete with $50k+ amps if using the right accompanying equipment, one needs to spend a bit more. If using a tube preamp - Parasound JC1+ monos (lightly used)
Reasonably priced preamplifier I've tried a lot of preamps (Hegel P30, Holo Audio Serene, various Rogue Audio RP7 and RP9). My speakers have been Focal (earlier the Scala, now the Maestro Utopia). The best I've found for the money is the VAC Renaissance Mk V. It is so musical ...
ultraRendu dropouts at DSD512 and 768kHz FWIW, I have both uR and oR and have no issues upsampling to either 768KHz or DSD512 in HQP Desktop (of course, not all modulators / filters as this is computationally intensive).
Value of a premium Ethernet cable So far, no one has alluded on which type of Ethernet cable is better than others for high end audio. Jussi Laako - the owner of Signalyst (HQPlayer - a product that I like) has done a lot of research on the pre-DAC part of the signal and signal t...
Really Long XLR I now use extremely long (70ft) XLR interconnects (Blue Jeans Cable) between my preamp and monoblocks. No issues. The choice of preamp is critical. The one I use (VAC Renaissance Mk V - transformer coupled) can run very long interconnects without ...
Parasound vs Coda @christianb5s4 JC1+ is bigger, fuller, faster sound with better bass. My speakers are the Maestro Utopia III. The X260.8 are sort of sufficient for Jazz. However, if you want to listen to classical, you need JC1+ with these speakers - or spend $30...
New Linear Parasound Halo JC1+ monoblocks, an even more improved new John Curl design Question for JC1+ owners: how good are the stock power cords that come with the units? I currently use AQ Hurricane but am contemplating ordering the stock power cords and moving the Hurricane PCs to the DAC and streamer. I owned the Pass Labs X2...
Sonore OpticalRendu I have experimented a lot with my opticalRendu (oR) setup. 1. Power supply quality makes a bit difference. I feel that the Sonore Audiophile Power Supply (SAPS) is a great match for the oR and the opticalModule (oM). 2. The type of SFP matters a...
Upsampling PCM or DSD in 2022 @rms456 There is a detailed thread just on HQP filters on community.Roonlabs.com: Which HQPlayer Filter Are You Using There is quite a bit of info in the HQP manual as well. There is also a detailed, dedicated thread on audiophilestyle.com. 25m ...
Parasound vs Coda I have tried Coda no 16 in my setup. The JC1+ were a much better match for my Focal speakers. They also were a better match than my X260.8 Pass monos.
Upsampling PCM or DSD in 2022 @rms456 if you’re only going to DSD128, you’re not getting the HQP benefit. Perhaps, you need more computer power? I use a M1 Mac Studio. On HQP5 (much better than HQP4), I find that going to DSD512 using AMSDM7EC 512+fs / Sinc mGA gives a very s...
Upsampling PCM or DSD in 2022 @rms456 I think that one narrows down to perhaps 1 PCM setting and 1 DSD setting for your equipment / room with HQP and not on a per album basis.
Pls help me decide Pass Labs X250.8 or Luxman M900u Do not look at the XA series of Pass. Yes, they are warmer and fantastic. However, if you look at measurements, they don’t do quite as well at lower impedances. But they are fantastic if your speakers’ s minimum impedance is 4 ohms or greater.
Upsampling PCM or DSD in 2022 @hgeifman HQP does not do the same thing as the PS Audio new DAC does. It does not just upsample to DSD. It gives you a vast choice of modulators and filters to suit your room and equipment. That is its defining factor.
Pls help me decide Pass Labs X250.8 or Luxman M900u Definitely not the Pass Labs (which, otherwise, are wonderful sounding) if your speaker’s impedance dips that low. I had X260.8 monos and now I use the Parasound JC1+ monos for the same reason you mention. The Luxman M900U should work, but, IMHO... |
