McIntosh Sonus Faber love affair, alternatives?
Love the jackassery quote! Brings me back to my college days and listening to my Pioneer set up with Infinity Speakers.
Is the idea of audiophile listening a dying concept as boomers die off?
Very interesting subject. My kids, 23 and 26 yo, have zero interest in my system. Too bulky, too much of everything. This is despite probably a 50k investment over the years (system, LPs, and CDs). Neither want it. Too much work. We own a 2nd hous...
McIntosh tube upgrade - worthwhile?
I swapped out the original mac tubes for Golden Lions and only saw a minimal improvement in sound. It was better but not by much.
Schiit Ragnarok 2
I looked at the Fosi monoblocks but ultimately decided on the Schiit. Very pleased with performance and synchrony thus far. Thanks for the response.
Think I ruined stylus
I've done worse. Probably just needs a proper cleaning as stated by others.

Are You A Disciplined Audiophile?
I do only because I am lazy! I enjoy letting it play out. If it is better, it will play out in time. Of course, I am not paying thousands for accessories so that makes a difference.

Seeking Honest Opinions: Your Experience with McIntosh Audio Gear
Right on jheppe815. Mac equipment is solid, as well as the resale value. Unlikely to take a hit on the buy in cost other than general inflation.  I have multiple Mac pieces. It sounds "warm" to me. I have nothing to compare to. My ears love the s...

Your greatest high end audio purchase!!!
My Mother wanted me to start enjoy music. It was the mid-80s and my parents purchased me a pioneer system for my dorm. It was separates and it included a 5-disc CD player and Infinity speakers. A good starter set that put me on my journey in searc...
Anyone listen to Music on a FM tuner anymore?
For me, it was listening to the Grateful Dead Hour on our local FM station every Sunday Night from 11-12pm. I think that is where I started to appreciate the wonderful world of music. I remember listening to Sugaree while lying in bed and realizin...
Anyone listen to Music on a FM tuner anymore?
I listen frequently to my McIntosh MR-78. I enjoy having it on in the background. Some decent FM stations in southern Georgia. Also get my morning talk show and NPR in good reception. I know it is a lot of nostalgia but it is enjoyable. Certainly ...
Will audio gear be ok in unheated house
I let my equipment, including tubes, get down to around 55 degrees fahrenheit in the colder months of the mid-lower South. If in the higher North, I'm not sure I would trust in house temps in the 20s. Friends have a camp in Adirondacks that is clo...
Benchmark or McIntosh....
I love my Mac gear but not sure you need more Mac with 7 subs. Never personally heard Benchmark but the discussions here about that line have usually been positive
