Good workout music for baby boomers
One more excellent jump-starter: Detroit Cobras, "Mink, Rat, or Rabbit". If this doesn't get your feets movin', you dead.
Good workout music for baby boomers
Hello. My name is Dan. And I am a Boomer (just had my 50th last year). My favorite motivating CD as of late has been Motorhead, "Ace of Spades". To get my blood coarsing in double-time I also like Reverend Horton Heat, "Holy Roller", The Twistin' ...
The subjectivity of speaker quality
My wife is dumbfounded at how particular I am about the quality of my audio and how much time I spend in the hobby. She says, "Why the hell are you so engrossed in your music and system, when I KNOW you're deaf as a rock ... You never half of what...
Newbie looking for system suggestions
Were I starting out today fresh, I'd concentrate on investigating and auditioning U.S. built gear by well/semi-well established companies who sell only/mostly through the net and have lower overhead costs than blitzkrieg-advertised, mass-produced,...
Where does your user name come from?
My favorite kind of live performances are rock-a-billy bands (e.g., Twistin' Tarantulas, Lee Rocker, The Paladins, Frantic Flatops, Belmont Playboys, Rev. Horton Heat, etc.) Their performances are consistently: energetic, honest, wild, rough, sill...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
I doubt I am typical, but here goes:1. '93 Ford F250 V10 pickup. Why with gas > $2/gal? Think Oliver and Lisa Douglas.2. '93 Ford F250 V10 pickup. Why? Wife + horses = broke.3. Harley Davidson Fat Boy with a custom license plate which reads, "R...

Who's Your Favorite Bass Players; Why?
Normally I don't want to hear the bass player, just notice if he's gone. But there are exceptions:1. Scott LaFaro - because he is the greatest, most musical, most expressive, most talented player there ever was.2. Thomas Yearsley (formerly with Th...
Are Zu Druids really good HE speakers?
Miklorsmith,No tubes. All solid state gear. Maybe that was the problem.
Are Zu Druids really good HE speakers?
Tvad,Yikes! Good point. No harm intended toward unamed audio bud. I (me, I) just didn't get it. Perhaps I was experiencing an abnormally earwaxey kind of day. Yeah, that's it.
suggestions cables for Andra by Eaglestoneworks
Sounds like you have quite an awesome system. I too have speakers by EgglestonWorks, the Fontaines. These are the monitors which sit atop your Andra woofers. Personally, I do not believe all of the hype surrounding high-end cables: speaker, interc...
Great sounding close to back wall speakers.
My Eggleston Works Fontaines sound awesome at less than 24" from the wall (to the back of the speaker). But you'd have to find a pair used for your budget.
Are Zu Druids really good HE speakers?
A friend invited me to listen to his new Druids. He was thrilled. He felt he was finally "there". The smile on his face was as wide as the couch he was sitting on. His eyes beamed with joy and excitement. He was dumping his $10,000 speakers in fav...

Would you consider $1050?After all of my research and auditioning, I will soon purchase the ACI Titan, although I have not heard one yet. $1050 for the basic model (plus $20 for spikes) with free shipping until Dec. 31.
Looking for CDP w/tube output and upsampling
I purchased a used Opera Audio Consonance Reference 2.2 CD player on Audiogon for $1000. However, I ended up listening to all of my jazz, acoustic, and other gentler music via the balanced outputs, which do not use the tube. And only use the RCA o...
