Reliability - what’s your experience been?
@immatthewj  From memory the V12R was rated at 100w /channel. Yes, a lot of tubes, but a very cute looking amp in its deep red finish...
My wife weighed in…she wants piano white tower/bookshelf

Reliability - what’s your experience been?
I've got a bunch of stuff here that needs repairing, most of it tube. My worst experience was lending a local audio club member a pair of beautiful Cary Audio V12R monoblocks and having them returned to me with one side not working. It needed a n...
Ken Fritz's $1M Dream System update
@veerossi I attended the auction preview (prior to anything having been sold via auction) and a lot of the equipment and media you see in his original video had already gone. I spoke with the auctioneer and his daughter and was given a value of wh...
Ken Fritz's $1M Dream System update
So much misinformation about this poor fellow. Not least of which - much of the high value gear/media was sold before the auction even started, hence didn't reflect in the auction totals..
SST Ampzilla 2000 v2 vs Son of Ampzilla II
Ditto on the misinformation regarding the ‘Son of’ being monoblocks. The Ampzilla 2000 monoblocks are available in v1 and v2 and the v1 I owned for a couple years sounded fantastic driving the heck out of a power hungry pair of Carver Amazing Plat...
The Audiophile Song - Who Can Relate?
@rolloff  I think part of what makes the song so great is not just the lyrics but the entire musical production. The vocals are spot on and the music supports the track in every way.  I want to hear more. This was of a similar theme but nonmu...
are there any fans of the Oppo BDP-95 out there? (vs. Oppo 105D).
I like mine a lot. Sounds good 2-channel out into my preamp, also as a transport via SPDIF into my DAC. I wish it had HDMI input on the front panel like the later models.
YouTube Indicates What the Future is For Audiophiles - Interesting Demographics.
@jssmith I think you know that I was espousing a certain concept relating to parenting in general. One of my favorite bands growing up was Rush. (They still are) I know what loud music is. Raising kids and role models is something for another foru...

@jssmith  Why? They obviously aren't interested.  Then we should make them interested. Why? Because it’s good for them. In the same way that reading a book is good for them. With two thirds of kids diagnosed ADHD, perhaps a little less stimula...

Ooooo another cable thread is breaking out…
YouTube Indicates What the Future is For Audiophiles - Interesting Demographics.
@2serious  I like all of this: With the exceptional rise in prices of gear over the last decade that has outpaced inflation by good margin, I think we are seeing the future unfold.  Manufactures are seeking to obtain profit from fewer, albeit w...

@seanheis1 Age seems to shift with cost while gender stays the same. I don’t think any of this surprises anyone. A few people early on commented to the effect “tell us something new”. My point and the reason for posting was to discuss what, if any...
Older Moon W8 vs 860a
My impressions are the polar opposite of what a couple people have said above. I owned W10 monos for a few years and thought they were good but a little bit on the lean side. It felt as though Sim were trying to take on Krell at that time. Since t...
Audiophiles in the Wild - They're on to us...
@asvjerry lol. I’m a Brit in America so I’m used to being on the wrong side of acquired taste. I still have Derek and Clive Live on vinyl somewhere…
