Linn Basik LVX vs. Rega RB 303 Ittok all the way.I like the RB300, think the latest offerings from Rega are of lower quality
Blade vs S5 vs Avior vs Hansen's Prince E's Yyzsantabarbara,What did you think of the model T's I think they sound damn good for the money, just wish they were better looking.Off to the Montreal show, its in 10 days or so.
New $35K pivoting tonearm The AMG uses a spring for vertical motion. i'm sure that is what makes it sound different. Is the diff better or worse, don't know, have not heard it.
Turntable suggestion -- budget.. or not? Buy a used Linn Lp12 with an Ittok for $1250 or so.Are you from Quebec? Yes I know, strange question. I just got that feeling from you.
AMG V12 vs SME 20/12 Ended up buying the SME 20/12 but with V12 arm. Couldn't hold off on my dream cartridge, the Ortofon MC Anna. Just picked one up 2 days ago. What a wonderful sounding record player, love it.
Brinkmann TT with an SME arm - any experiences? The only issue with the Bardo and SME, is that the range for sliding the arm back and forth is limited because there is not enough clearance for the right angled output. Therefore it is possible that some cartridges will not align.
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? Thanks for the reply, starting to get your point. Analog is all about choosing the right compromise, and that is what makes it fun, rather than just pressing play. I guess this makes your new arm even more attractive not having to deal with this a...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? another way of putting it.Mr Schroeder's method gives slightly less anti skate for the minimum situationtest record gives the exact amount for the max situationmy method gives exact amount for slightly more than the min situation????? still don't ...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? Thanks for the reply Mr Schroeder. I definitely agree that test records set the anti skate too high, but still feel your method seems a bit too low, as you suggest less anti skate than what would be required to keep the stylus stationary in a non ...
New Schroeder linear tonearm, any thoughts? A question for Mr Schroeder,On your site you print anti-skate settings for your other arms. You suggest that in between the lead out grooves the arm should move slowly towards the centre of the record. This confuses me, as in-between the lead out gr...
Ortofon jubilee with sme 312s tonearm Yes should work very well, I have not used the Jubilee, but have lots of experience with the similar Kontrapunct C and Per Winfield.
Brinkmann Lagrange or Kuzma Stabi M The laGrange is an awesome table, love it.However, it has been discontinued with the addition of the two arm Balance and the focus on the new DD'sI would buy an SME 20/12 now the price has dropped.Especially in Canada, see smetonearms.com
SME 20/3 and an MC Anna Ok, I have changed my mind, Gonna pass on the Anna and use my PW and order a 20/12 with a V12. I can always get an Anna next year.
SME 20/3 and an MC Anna Another note on the AMG arm;If the record is perfectly flat it is possible that the spring would potentially stop the arm from moving up and down from the modulations from the groove. This would in turn, hold the cartridge body solid transmitting ...
Rhea vs Pass XP-15 Thanks Almarg, I think the XP-15 has an output impedance of 300 OHMS the 25 is 150 and as you said the Rhea only 110. Thinking with the combo of a low output cart and a solid state pre, the Pass may be the best choice.Initially I was all Rhea, but... |
