Speakers for Rega Brio R and/or Nad 326bee Epos monitors will get you the great midrange you want for a fraction of the price of the Harbeths. I believe the new line of Epic standmounters are well reviewed. You can check them out here: Epos EpicI think they would make a good match to those...
Hybrid Integrated Amps: Any Good? 07-14-12: Malcolmreynolds21Thanks guys! I'm also worried that the unit doesn't have tone controls, and that I'm currently using the tone controls on the amp I have now. Should I be worried about that? The answer, IMHO, to tone controls is to get a ...
Anyone tried out Vincent Audio Intergrated? Ok,that's very good to know. I didnt mean to impugn it; I just had some reservations. Thank you for removing most of them for me. :)
Anyone tried out Vincent Audio Intergrated? Isn't this amp basically the house brand for one of the larger catalog retailers? They seem to market their gear toward the less technically savvy audiophile. They include things like tone controls and remotes, and place an emphasis on 'modern' co...
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions Yea, I was hoping it was something simple like that. It fooled me, happening right after the tube blew. I guess I learned a little about my amp, though. Thanks a lot!
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions It's the front switch. :0
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions Just checked the bias resistors. They were easy to spot - 5 watt 10 Ohm jobs. They tested for 10 ohms, all 4. I tested them out of the circuit. What else might I check?
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions I thought of doing that, but I understood you to say that the bias resistor would not prevent the amp from turning on. I;ve already checked the filaments on the tubes, and they are intact. Should I also check the bias resistors?Terry
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions Well, I got the replacement tubes today, replaced the right channel with them, and am not getting power at all. I checked the fuse, and it was still good. I checked inside, and could see no obvious damage or the smell of something burnt. What are ...
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions Ok, thanks for the info. I didn't know about the bias resistor blowing. I'll certainly call Jolida today and ask about it, and where I can obtain 0service if necessary.Iirc, the same thing happened once before, and I didn't need to replace a resis...
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions Hey, that was a great post. I think I found the resistors you said on Ebay (who has 50 watt resistors lying around? :) ), and I'll start on these tests as soon as the tubes arrive. Thanks a lot!Terry
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions I have an analog meter. In fact one of the noticeable things about this tube that blew was the shaky needle of the meter when biasing it. It was the only tube that wouldn't stay constant but would go like a pendulum from a low to high voltage and ...
6550 Tube Blew - A Few Questions 07-05-12: MarakanetzWhen I owned VTL MB100 in this unit tubes didn't die 'piecefully' and once a goo chunk of PC board was fryed. Thanks for the info. I can certainly solder in a resistor, but I need to know which one. I guess the first step would...

Speakers to hang on to for LIFE Is this thread really 10 years old? :0For me, my Epos ES11's -- which they will have to pry out of my cold, dead hands. I have never heard them make a 'mistake.' And I have been listening to them for 7 or 8 years.Terry |
