My journey to search for standmount bookshelf speakers... Try to find some tekton 6.5t monitors I have some for sale in the Seattle area with rigid black steel Linn tukan stands. Sound great and can listen to them all night. My friends asked me where my sub was (don’t have one). I put them 11-12" from th...
Proac Response D40R or D48R Ribbon tweeters can be more narrow / more focused / more "beamy" than dome tweeters. I witnessed this when I demoed a pair of ascend acoustics sierra towers with a high end RAAL ribbon tweeter. No the speaker for me, mostly for other reasons.I rea...
Nakamichi high-com II in record chain only or listening / record chain (vinyl source only) Huh, I guess I misunderstood the function of this device or the way people were using it. Wonder if I will keep it. I do like the analog vu meters that will match the rest of my system. https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/1634
Killer Floor Standing Speakers under $4000 for Rock? I had some tekton 6.5t monitors on rigid stands with good punch and sound. I also tried some Tekton mini lores, not for me as they were too refined with no punch.I still stand by my ProAc studio 148 recommendation, which I am using in my main setu...

Do I need speakers upgrade? I disagree the 148s are rough and aggressive. I think they are very accurate (studio characteristics). Itzhak, the 148s you heard must have not been broken in as they do take a while. Or the source electronics or material was poor.
Do I need speakers upgrade? My room is larger than yours (see my system page for full details on room and components) and I think I have plenty of speaker for where I listen. I only listed to the ProAc Studio 125 (beautiful midrange) and ProAc D20 before I ordered my 148s. ...

The $3,600 gamble I bought my ProAc Studio 148 towers without an audition, but I did audition similar ones in their reference line.
What is the future for Proac Speakers ? Hi everyone,I’ve been loving my ProAc studio 148s which is the largest audio component dollar-wise I’ve ever purchased. I usually buy used (see my page for details about the 2 channel analog system for vinyl and AV playback I’ve put together plus ...
2.0 Stereo speakers on a $2000 budget? +many for ProAc. I love my studio 148s. Very efficient, same tweeter as D series and much better bottom end than D18 or D20. Some up here for sale or similar models. I use mine with soundocity SEV 9 outriggers.
Mogami wire quality? Love my Mogami wires. Check my system details. Never tried Cardas.
Rega RP6 vs Pro Ject 1Xpession Carbon - is there $500 difference I think so. I had 2 pro-ject tables, original xpression and xpeession III. MY current RP6 blows both away. See my system details what I use with it. It boogies and does blues and classical well.
Recommendations for used/vintage integrated for vinyl Audio Refinement complete integrated for usually around $450. You will need a phono preamp. 50 watts into 8 ohms but high current design. |
