Nordost Purple Flare for GoldenEar triton One.R GE easy that these are "compatible with 8ohms" whatever that means. Sterophile say that there are serious dips and a 4 ohm capable amp is required. Ugh well, I will let you all know how the Canare's work.
Nordost Purple Flare for GoldenEar triton One.R Never mind, they are effectively 11awg.
Nordost Purple Flare for GoldenEar triton One.R My only hesitation on the Canare is they are 14 gauge and the speakers are 4ohm. Should I be concerned about that?

Nordost Purple Flare for GoldenEar triton One.R Thanks all. I have been hearing amazingly good things about the Canare. At that price, not much risk in trying them out.
Nordost Purple Flare for GoldenEar triton One.R Thanks. I am sure the Freys are great, but my budget is in the Flare range.
Q Acoustics Concept 50 They are on my radar screen as well. I would love to hear from someone who has heard them.
"Too much gain"? (Cary SLP05 question) 26db (Modwright KWA 150 SE).
"Too much gain"? (Cary SLP05 question) I owned an SLP-05 as well. It sounded great in many ways, but I ended up selling it because (you guessed it) it had too much gain (and hence noise). I tried various attenuators, including Rothwell's, and the input controls on the pre itself, and ...
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same? I also own an Ayre AX-5/20. It replaced more expensive separates (Modwright KWA 150 SE and Cary Slp-05 pre) and sounds vastly better imho and takes up a lot less space. Good high end companies seem to be investing a lot of R&D into integrated...
Looking for my Final Pair!! Another vote for Spatial. My Luminas fit your needs 100% and those X3s are similar especially with the powered sub.
looking for a Integrated amp $6,000 range There are two Ayre Ax--5/Twenty's for sale on hifi shark/ebay for $6k and $6500. Lists for $15k. Not sure why they are going for so little, but great deals on a fantastic integrated. Read the reviews, one of the best.
Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time" Would these work in a large room? Say, 18 x 30, but with the listening area 18-20 feet from front wall.
Integrated amp suggestions. Another vote for the Ayre AX-5/20. I have owned one for two years now and totally love it. It is dead quiet and very natural sounding.I have also her the Vinnie Rossi and it is also fantastic. I would try to audition both.I
~$15K floorstanders: opinions sought I am a big Spatial fan. Given that they are on your list, I would definitely try to demo a pair of X3s. I own Luminas and have heard the X2. The X2 is something of a hybrid of the two. AMT driver like the X2 and powered subs like the Lumina (altho... |
