Technics SL Q202 turntable low buzz
It is the power transformer. Over time the windings and laminations of the core start to vibrate because the varnish applied to them becomes brittle with age. They sometimes have rubber bushings between the transformer and plinth on those lower-en...
Death of Rock 'n' Roll
Tom Waits is the worst vocalist ever, even worse than Michael Bolton.
Best RG6/RCA Compression Connectors for Subwoofer Cable
Don’t forget that RG6 cable uses a copper clad centre conductor made of steel. It is great for RF and other high frequency applications, but lousy for audio. Also remember that coaxial cable exposes one of the signal-bearing conductors (the “shiel...
Best RG6/RCA Compression Connectors for Subwoofer Cable
“Audiophile quality” and “compression connectors on RG-6” are a contradiction in terms. Just about anything else would be an improvement over that. Check out Monster subwoofer cables. They’re sold everywhere and meant for the task.
Eaton 9px as audio power regenerator?
The 9130 is loud. I had the opportunity to purchase a few 1500VA models a little while ago at a very good price, so that and past experiences with Eaton how I formed my decision. The 9130s will be located in the basement, feeding two dedicated cir...
Eaton 9px as audio power regenerator?
Eaton makes some fantastic on line UPSs with 9 factor power conditioning. I’m about to wire up a couple 9130-1500 UPSs to power my listening room equipment racks. I’m expecting great results, as Eaton is one of the few UPS manufacturers who produc...
Clean component connections
Word of caution: any solvent can potentially damage plastic compounds and even Windex has on occasion removed lettering from metal panels.
Is there a non-DJ version of the Technics SL-1200 Series?
To recommend a suitable turntable, we need to know how you are planning to use it. If you want to put on a record, sit down and listen, then there are many good turntables with better vibration isolation than the SL-1200mk2. Also keep in mind that...
Technics turntable inquiry about SL 1200 MK ll for DJ or home use?
If you are a rap-“DJ”, you don’t even need a real turntable. They only use a time code record to control serato. The turntables you own are for listening to music.
Death of Rock 'n' Roll
The King is gone, but he’s not forgotten. (Johnny Rotten... Rotten Johnny). Here’s the story of a Johnny Rotten. (Rotten Johnny... Johnny Rotten). Better to burn out, than fade away. The King is gone but he’s not forgotten.
Death of Rock 'n' Roll
Rock ‘n Roll can never die! Hey hey, my my! More to the picture than meets the eye! Hey hey, my my!
Is it just me or does the "new" posting parameters seem like there unproductive?
They’re.
Should manufacturers provide circuit schematics & parts list?
Schematics should be provided by manufacturers. Service manuals that are well-written with good diagnostic info (voltages and waveforms at test points, etc... ) are essential in my opinion.
Entry level turntable for my son
Depending on your son’s intentions, I’d recommend a vintage Technics direct drive turntable if he wants to listen to music. If he wants to be a rap-“DJ”, then he doesn’t need a turntable, but need a serato box and a rap controller or two. The SL-1...
Reel to reel
If you really want it, offer to pay more than the asking price. Cash is king. That’s how I got my first Technics SL-1700mk2, and they are as scarce.
