The free air resonance at 60 Hz seems like it wouldn't interfere, in most cases.  Good choice, me thinks.

Hi-Fi speakers seem always to be compensating for something.  Studio monitors don't, but in comparison, might sound dull to some. I'll go with the accuracy of monitors everytime.

The Dayton Audio DS 175-8   6 1/2" ...and the ES 140 TiA-8   5 1/2" look good to me. Am I on the right track?

Wow!  Excellent info!  (especially for the uninformed).  Thanks, people.I was intending to use an 8" full-spectrum speaker of quality (and cost).  I will stick to a known plan for the box until I get more knowledge.

Just to get a few comments on this......What would you call:  the ability of a speaker to reproduce the image of ....let's say....the almost separate particles of sound, laid side by side in tight succession..... as in a bow on a bass fiddle's low...
