Starting from scratch and say $5000 I did one on 7k cause I'm retired and on a fixed in come. Vinyl is out for one and I spent 3/4's of the money on speakers and the rest on an Integrated amp. good luck. If I had it to do over I would really just consider KEF LS60 for the 7k.
speaker cables under 1k for Harbeth 30.2XD? I have used a # of under 1k speaker cables with my 30.1's including Audioquest and for the money I like the little known and much maligned Mapleshade speaker Cables. I don't like all their stuff but the cables are real bright sounding. I use some ...
what are your top "audio bargins" in your system history? Lovely Thread, this is news I can use. I like my Mapleshade Speaker Wire, They don't look like much but for the money they out perform everything I have tried in the (lower) price range. I added some cheap bananas and I use them with my SS/ Harbet...
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them? Always buy the Harbeths....By the by the only speaker I ever owned that didn't rock was a Tannoy but the issues were elsewhere perhaps...Tho I drove them with some Krell from the 90's. The JBL they say that rocks can just be shrill. Speakers that ...
Why does it take so long to get stuff? I feel it too, Power cords, optical cords, front end equip. It all takes forever if you don't order from le' Amazon. And then of course you fear the knock- off could come for some items. And returns are a breeze.
Integrated amp recommendation I personally use a Peachtree Nova 300-Bluesound Node 2i - I use the Nova's DAC-; Pro ject CD transport and Harbeth 30.1 monitors in a very small square room. Night mare(!) but after much stress it sounds pretty good for such a modest system. They ...
What to listen for? On a JGB show from The Keystone in the 70's on Real Listen one night- super loud -you can hear some woman(wasted) wander up to Garcia (he's wailing) and ask him if he still gives guitar lessons. He keeps playing and responds "I don't really have ...
Speakers for a unique small room I have a similar room but just no open end I use my Harbeth 30.1. They seem very forgiving as far as placement and distance position. Also I moved all furniture out of room. Ya gotta want it. They are big in a small room but I did already have the...
How do you stop house guest from damaging your speakers? When I saw the headline on the subject I thought this thread would ask about the wives and kids that that blow drivers and fuses while using the equipment. And I know most of you will not allow that but I have been caught unawares. And I won't eve...
Did the Old Receivers Sound Good? By and large - No. I had Kenwood’s Rotel, I don’t remember them all. Never liked any of them. Or we wouldn’t have Hi- end would we? Tho for a relatively modest investment I currently get great sound. I wish I had some of the $ I spent back on that...
streaming and audiophile stereo Speakers, power, Cables, ETHERNET Cable.
It was 61 years ago today... I was there and the experience informed the rest of my life: the Acid, The Dead , I saw over 300 GD shows and I don't regret a single minute of it. Culturally J,P,G&R formed us all and anyone who sez otherwise is just lying or Dead Wrong. The ...
what cd player ? Get a DAC you'll need it later anyway and then almost any transport will be ok. I use a Pro-Ject and an integrated with a DAC; Just to eliminate the analog connections is such a relief.
A Skeptics Digital Upgrade Journey Works for me
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey dman1974 some posts seem to have got little off point (!) as usual. When I read your original post I just thought YES! Right on you are so right that is the right advice. Speakers-Power-Cables even a semi modest system (like my own) can sound pret... |
