Cable Management Tips and Tricks
Make the cables yourself at the exact length. I have made all my power cables, dc cables, rca, ethernet cables myself. (HDMI and Toslink  are standard) Short, separated &  neat. It is not difficult at all.
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
Power cable influences on equipment has to do with a) less contact resistance b) less rfi and emi pick-up, and transfer to the component c) less cross-contamination from components on nearby other components and cables d) less voltage drop e) less...
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
The remedy for dirty power is depending on a) the time of the day b) your system itself (they are noise generators themselves and cross contaminate throught the grid) c) the rest of your household equipment d) tha hood you are livin in. If you hav...
Symptoms of UN-CLEAN power
My take on symptoms of 'Dirty power'.   RFI - Harsh sound, Grey background, Sounds that blur with each other.  EMI - Weak & untight Bass, Small stereo image. Missing the Boogie Factor Leakage currents - short decay of sounds, obstructed so...
Best Power Cable Component Hierarchy
I would go ’upstream’ with cables, like power cords. Distributor, source, dac, pre amp, power amp. But every component reacts differently on power cords due to the quality of the power supplies and the influence shielding has on components and nea...
Silver interconnect cable from Xsangsane - please advise on plugs?
I would advice a plug with rhodium plating. Pure silver emphasizes the decay of the sound. Rhodium counteracts by emphasizing the attack/transient. Monosaudio A200R or RAMM 30891-RT are good options. The first is a low mass pure copper design, th...
Power cable dilemma
Pangea is known for choking the sound. The PVC insulation in combination with 14 AWG is maybe the cause. Power cord technology hasn't changed much imo, but more exotic geometries, air diëlektricum, and the use of ultra pure metals (like OCC) have ...
Ethernet cables
Clearly, For  us it is clear where the differences come from: shielding, shielding, shielding. +1. Agreed. I use Supra CAT 8.1  as short endpoint cables between my FMC's  + a double shield around the cable configured in a JSSG 360 loop does the...
Rhodium...hmmm
Also, the sound will depend on the quality of the connector and conductors it is paired with. Rhodium plated phosphor bronze or copper alloy wont sound as robust and clear as Rhodium plating over solid silver plating over solid copper conductors,...
Which power cords have high resolutions and separation??
Well, that depends on the engineer. I prefer the perspective of Hans M. Strassner, Garth Powell and Caelin Gabriel.
how to buy power cords that fit my components (i.e tight and snug)
Tightening the pins of the IEC is also an option. But electrical tape or teflon tape will do the job just fine, or try some foam tape on the sides that are loose. Or change the socket on the component.
Good read: why comparing specifications is pointless
It is a good read, but also an advertisement for there own measurement 'skills'. The problem is a lack of standards in specs and measurement methods between companies and reviewers. Comparing specs can be usefull. You don't combine for example a S...
The character of analog and digital
The directness of R2R tape is not captured by digital atm. Vinyl is inferior to R2R period. Vinyl has it own drawbacks (pops, crackles, noise, channel separation, sub bass) but is the second best analog source. Digital is getting there (for exampl...
Audio Science Review = Rebuttal and Further Thoughts
Rude, snooty, snobbiness is exactly what can give audiophiles a bad name. It's what I ran into in ASR, and now I'm seeing it here, too. I thought we were in this hobby to relax and enjoy our gear and the music it reproduces.   Audiophiles are ü...
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
Enjoy your system and music but don’t engage in trying to convince others that you are right. You will lose that argument in any evidence based discussion. Thank you. Keep up the good work at ASR. When I am describing my observations about comp...
