Insurance values
My understanding is that if your policy is for replacement value, you base the insured value on a similar item available today.  I would consult your insurance broker to make sure, since that is his/her job.
Can anyone explain in laymans terms why your gear sound better after warm up
>>>>Do you have an explanation for demagnetizing CDs, too? I’m interested in both. Demagnetizing stretches the O and I so they can be more easily read as 0 and 1

Has anyone compared TC with Stabilant 22?
Which Preamp Would You Choose?
@adg01 The SF Line 1 with Sovtek or new production tubes is not what I would call SS or if so it’s very good SS, but again I would not go there. You are right, I didn’t mean to imply that all SS pre amps are poor sounding. What I was trying to con...

I am not sure that the credit card company will side with the buyer as long as he has the replacement LPS-1.2 in his procession.
Has anyone tried Brass cartridge mounting screws?
@bdp24 wrote I’m with @best-groove: brass is too soft. Are you having an issue with the brass threads stripping or do you not like the sound of brass bolts?

Resistance and capacitance are some of the electrical properties that change with temperature. For the electronic equipment to be able to properly measure and provide accurate and consistent results, these instruments must warm up and stabilize...
Can anyone explain in laymans terms why your gear sound better after warm up
Some components operate at their peak performance at a specific stabilized temperature.  The same way an athlete warms up prior to competition or exercise.

Do you own a dremel?
homemade turntable vibration isolation platform
I had to look up what a "yurt" was and based on google's response, I could only imagine that equipment isolation is only one of your system challenges.
Power amps with fans -- maintenance?
Frequent cleaning of the fan will promote a longer life. The fan blades become unbalanced when loaded with debris and will put undo stress on the bearings. On older equipment, you can replace the fans with better and lower noise fans for very litt...
