2020 update : JC Verdier La Platine
Hi @lewm, yes, in theory that’s right! However, if the motor unit is transmitting vibration to the plinth/platter, then we have to pick the lesser evil ! That’s why I used the word “may” . Users just have to try it to see which one they prefer!
2020 update : JC Verdier La Platine
Hi @ledoux1238, yes I was using the Safir with the La Platine on an optical pneumatic table, but I have since moved the Safir to another TT. The Safir matches well with the EMT VM as well as the Dynavector XV 1S. My latest arms on the La Platine...
2020 update : JC Verdier La Platine
When placing a La Platine with hard footer on a pneumatic platform, I would certainly place both the main unit and the motor on the same platform, and may put a thin layer of Isodamp sheet, or Isodamp footer, under the motor for some further dampi...
2020 update : JC Verdier La Platine
@mr_gray, thank you for the explanation! If you think the seismion is too expensive, I would highly recommend the Vibraplane or similar pneumatic anti-vibration platform, either the active (which required a high pressure air compressor) or the pas...
2020 update : JC Verdier La Platine
Hi @mr_gray,  I may have missed it in your earlier posts, but when you said you are now “floating on air”, are you putting your Verdier on a pneumatic anti-vibration platform, such as the Vibraplane or similar? I am wondering whether the “lost of ...
2020 update : JC Verdier La Platine
I kind of doubt the difference in the height of the gap between the magnets is due to Holland vs China magnets. If you do a search on the internet, or even the reviews shown in Verdier website, you can see some of the older La Platine with the Gra...
Stepping Up From A Graham 2.2 On A Basis Audio Debut Deck
To follow up on @lewm ‘s comment on the compatibility between the Walker controller and the Debut Gold Standard. If I remember correctly, the Debut Gold Standard utilized a DC motor (Basis switched to AC motor, and offered their own Synchro dual p...
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V?
Hi @neonknight , so you are very experienced in vinyl playback!   Some background, I am a relatively early adopter of the SME V, got mine at around 1986 / 87, and paired it with the then current version of the Sota Sapphire with vacuum, a popula...
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V?
@whart my experience using the Rockport arm is exactly the same as yours, a bit more complicated to setup, but no problem with lower compliance cartridge once setup ! I also have a set of Airline sitting in the box, which I will setup in the comin...
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
@mijostyn , can the MC Diamond really be considered as an improvement over the Anna Diamond when the measurements are worst? Just go look up their Channel Separation at 15kHz and Frequency Response figures !
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
Hi Mike, I afraid that you are wrong, the spec. of the Mc Diamond is slightly different from the Anna Diamond! If we only go by the measurements, the Anna Diamond is actually the better of the two  😄
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
I have a short audition recently with the DS Audio Grand Master pairing with the SAT arm and Airforce Zero turntable, and consider this one of the best analogue set up I have ever heard. Of course, I couldn’t tell which component had the greatest ...
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
Some members posting in this thread seem to believe as digital “measures” better than analogue, it must be better and every audiophile should find digital better. I think they are missing a couple of points.    First, are we measuring the right ...
Analog Upgrade itch
Hi @eddiechanghk , just want to clarify a couple of points regarding “active” and “passive”, which could be confusing for you. As I understand, the Vibraplane belongs to a class called pneumatic vibration isolators. In general, this kind of isolat...
One turntable with two arms, or two turntables with one each - which would you prefer?
Interesting topic! I have a related question for anyone who has mounted more than one arm on a TT.    One of my friends is using a Transrotor TT which is capable of accepting 2 arms. He claims that just mounting a second arm would degrade the so...
