CD Player Recommendations… Another vote for Marantz.
The first system you had that was "high end/audiophile", by you standards I should have read the thread title better, my previous post was the 1st system I ever owned. My 1st "audiophile system" I purchased through the American PX in Frankfurt back in 93, Klipschorns, Adcom 585LE(w/optional fan kit), GTP750, GCD750, AC5...
The first system you had that was "high end/audiophile", by you standards In 82 had a complete AKAI system, tuner, cassette, turntable, amplifier and Hitachi speakers with Radio Shack speaker cable and the wonderful interconnects that came in the boxes.
What speaker do you passionately want to demo? Monitor Audio Platinum PL300 II, I loved the demo so much, I took a pair home in a heartbeat!
How many dealers do you use? 3 local Dealers who have been here from 30 to 50 years. There are others, but these 3 I have developed a friendship with over the years.
Bryston, McIntosh, Krell or Mark Levinson I have the Krell K300i with Monitor Audio Platinum PL300 ii and love the sound.
PowerBall Lottery Winner DeKay's got me, I can't do any better....
Is your now then? First stereo was in 82, an AKAI system (turntable, tuner, dual casette, equalizer) with "Hitachi" speakers, it was a complete package and if I recall around 1100$.
NEVER BUY CHEAP CASSETTES - - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR Another vote for TDK SA90, in the 80's you could buy a box for 10$, and now the price for a single blank tape is just plain stupid imo.
Ultrasonic LP Cleaning vs. “Thread Type” Cleaning (Keith Monks/Loricraft/etc.) I finally settled on an AudioDesk I was fortunate to get onsale and haven't looked back.
I feel bad for GenX'ers that missed out on the 60s and 70s. I was 10 years old and my oldest brother got stuck babysitting me. it was the best night of my life, July 29, 1969, Led Zepplin with Vanilla Fudge, Edmonton AB Kinsmen Field House, around $4 and I still have my ticket stub.
Reasonably sensitive speakers for tube amps, max $2k/pair, new or used If you are stilling looking, try Monitor Audio Silver 300's great pairing with tubes.
Parasound A21+ vs Adcom GFA-585se I had the Adcom 585"LE" back in 92 powering my Klipschorns with the Adcom GTP/GCD 750 combo. I bought them at the American PX in Frankfurt with the optional fan kit(120$ then). In short, I loved that beast and I mean beast, bonus, made in the US. ...
