"Musical" subwoofers? Advice please on comparing JL subs
@slimpickins5  I don't doubt that there are some very expensive Class D amps that will sound great. They are way out of my budget, mostly for the 5% who make too much money. There are some modestly priced units that sell within my budget, but unti...
"Musical" subwoofers? Advice please on comparing JL subs
@slimpikins I know what you are saying. The class D is a switching amp, just like a wall wart. I don’t like the sound. SS amps typically sound similar to me. Series T/i uses the same Class A/B power amplifier sections with large, high current powe...

MC likes to twist what he said to drive his point or dispute someone. He can change his words as he goes, post to post, thread to thread. Never two alike. He also likes to twist what others say, but we won’t go there now.Whatever is convenient at t...
Cables 101, new student, first question
@clearthinker you guys should hold Tekton man to account on his cable painting misinformation. You're dead on, Tekton man, as you call him, is full of it and misinformation too.
Article: "Spin Me Round: Why Vinyl is Better Than Digital"
@hilde45 I have both. I use a Lynx Hilo to digitize and to playback. It does 24/192kHz. I can say without a doubt that the analogue version of a recording sounds just a little bit better than the digital version, on my system. You may get differen...
"Musical" subwoofers? Advice please on comparing JL subs
@northman I hear you. My room is 12X11, so I know of what you speak. My near field system has two subs. I chose the REL T/7i over the JL simply because I value Class A/B over Class D in an analogue system. If I were digital I might not mind Class ...
I bought some Owens Corning 703. Now what?
@mitch2 A/V Room Service EVPs are made with/of: "The EVP core is a matrix of precisely compressed high-density molded glass fibers, which allows controlled air movement through the fibers." (from his web site specs)They work well for isolating equ...

Why is there no love for Prima Luna?
@rushfan71 I would think a thread like this would also be an opportunity for the unhappy PL owners to voice their issues with PL as well.I'd like to hear from them, and I'm not talking about system synergy issues. That's right! Every discussion ...
Bought some 14/2 “speaker wire” from Home Depot
@gosta  +1Although it may not be his hearing as much as his brain failing.
More power for moderate listening levels?
As opposed to choosing what is bad, I guess. Like tuberculosis. @millercarbon  Yeah, you named it. Now you will have it for the foreseeable future.OP, many posters want you to buy what they have in speakers and amps. Sure that would be great. I...
More power for moderate listening levels?
Tekton makes some great speakers, very high efficiency, great sound, and their favorite amp is Pass. It would seem a match made in heaven.   That sounds like a recommendation to change speakers to your fav.
More power for moderate listening levels?
To contradict Mr. Miller, you don’t buy speakers to match your amp. If you like your speakers (and I don’t have any familiarity with them), buy an amp that matches the speakers. My mains are 85 dB sensitivity. I use tube mono blocks. When I started...
smaller speakers for critical listening?
@northman I have a small room, 11X12. Just due to space constraints I went with stand mounted monitors made by ATC. I think if the selection of speaker provides an accurate representation of the music it will work well for critical listening. I cr...
