Has anyone heard the oskar heil line?
I bought a new pair of ESS amt 1a back in 1975. I had them for 28 years. I had to replace the woofer surrounds a couple of times. They were very enjoyable speakers. They weighed a lot for a "bookshelf" speaker. I wish I would have kept them
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Bob Dylan's "Together Through Life". It was just released today. I bought the vinyl/ cd combo; got home and car covered.
Remastered Dylan New Morning Great - The Others?
I picked up the remastered New Morning a couple of weeks ago. Ditto on the "If Dogs Run Free". The remastered Basement Tapes is done very well also. The cover of The Basement Tapes is itself worth getting the vinyl.
Moon i3.3 vs Plinius 9100
I would consider a used Moon I-3se to match with the Excite. The new I3.3 is a bit too pricey for those speakers IMO. If the I-3se is not to your taste you can easily resell it and recoup your money.
Moon i3.3 vs Plinius 9100
I have had a pair of Dynaudio Focus 140 and now have Contour 1.4. I have used a Plinius 8200 MK III, Moon I-3se, I-5 and I-7. The Plinius can do rock and jazz with muscle and finesse; could use a bit more detail. Its strength was the midbass. Howe...
Sensual Music
Gee Phil, your third paragraph sets the bar rather high. It may not reach that high but one albumn that readily comes to mind is Stan Getz- "Cafe Montmarte". As to your criteria, "tunes that leave you weak at the knees", I"m not sure if this cd me...
New Rega R1 - Recommend an Amp?
There is a Musical Fidelity A3 integrated currently for sale here on Agon. It has a phono stage. I had an A3.2 in the past; decent amp, and plenty for your application. I do not know the seller.
A look into classical
If you are so inclined to spend the money for a subscription, Grammaphone magazine is a great resource. Each issue has a cd of a collection of recently released pieces. If you aren't sure you want a year's subscription go to Barnes and Noble and g...
Simaudio I3 or I5...
Mxwizard,Enjoy!
Which Dynaudio to buy under 2k used
I have owned the Focus 140 and now have the Contour 1.4. To my ears the Contours are superior. On the used market they are worth the extra cost. Solid stands, preferably the Dyn Stand 4's, are important.
Simaudio I3 or I5...
I had a pair of Model 1 Signatures in a bedroom system (room size 9x12x8) with both an I-3 and I-5. The I-5 was a much better sound. The Sttaf's are more efficient than the Model 1 Sigs. If your room isn't too large the I-5 should sound great.
Why the Blues Really Hit The Spot
I would highly recommend a book recently published, "The Delta Blues", by Ted Gioia.
The Most Beautiful Song of The RnR era?
I weighed in three years ago on this one. Here's another:"Angie" The Rolling Stones
Integrated $500-1K for Classic Jazz
Dmloring,In answer to your question, yes, it is worth it to spend up to $1,000 to upgraded from the NAD 320bee. I had the NAD, along with the MF integrateds I mentioned earlier. The a3.5 or the a300 as Hens suggested would be a significant upgrade.
Integrated $500-1K for Classic Jazz
A used Musical Fidelity a3.5 integrated should work well for you. I had the a3.2 and a308 in the past and they sounded great with jazz. I listened to an a3.5 when they first came out and it was markedly better than the a3.2 to my ears. It would be...
