Acoustic Curtain for listening area
I've hung  a 3'x5' Navaho rug over the TV ( for God's sake it's only to read blu-ray/dvd-a menus ), a very course weave, of the sort recommended by R. Vandersteen for 1st reflections.  So, course weave is worth trying.

Bowie: RocknRoll Suicide, Golden Years  Iggy Pop:  Dum Dum Boys, Seek and Destroy  Beatles: Tax Man, Savoy Shuffle  I'm gonna assert that if you can listen to any of these, without singing along, that  you can  downsize and repurpose your list...

Turned back into a music lover
That's what happened to me. And yet, I have big big plans: a new house chosen with a dedicated music room in , Carbon Quatros, Ref 250 SE , Ref5 SE..  But I'm now a record listener and collector. I've fallen in love with Stranded Records, Secret ... 
Square room Soundstage??
Yes, treatment will help. I get excellent imaging in my 12x12x8 room. Sent the dimensions to GIK, treated 1st and 2nd reflection points ( Including ceiling ) and it still took 3 years to finalize speaker placement.

What were the radio stations of your youth that helped you on your music/audio journey?
KPFA, KPFB in Berkeley, KFCF in Fresno- the later reached my adolescent home town in Tulare Co, and Tuesday night was  Maximum Rock and Roll in the early 80's 
Who will soon be going to a live concert?
Saw the Residents last Friday in SF- vaccine carding required in a small venue. The wait for Roger Waters at a huge venue goes on.
