Well this link will start many arguments! New speakers--better bass. New amps--better bass. New preamp--better bass. New turntable--better bass. New cartridge--better bass. New speaker cables--better bass. New power cords--better bass. New power distributor--better bass. Better recording-...
Well this link will start many arguments! I DO swear by cable lifters------they make vacuuming so much easier!
Securing spade connectors Sounds like spades aren't a good match for the speaker. I just went through this with Transparent speaker cables and YG Sonja 2.2i's. I am going to have the spades changed to banana plugs. I bet you have a poor connection with the spades, as I did.
Last Critical Tweak… how to quell occasional high harshness…? Look into ear oil. A few drops occasionally can prepare your aging ears for those bursts of trumpet.
"audiophiles listen to their equipment" My interest in the system is greater than my interest in the music. When you have a precise, revealing system, with both power and control, you can enjoy music you don't like to a far greater extent than you would otherwise, particularly if it has...
Have you reached your end point with this addictive hobby? Some great comments here. I'm probably a classic case of always wondering if there's (significantly) more. The only cure is to turn the system on and play some well-recorded vinyl to remind myself that my system is more than okay.
speaker upgrade from Magico A3 Given your satisfaction with Magico, I would look at the A5's, or, there is a pair of YG Hailey 1.2's for sale right now on Audiogon. I have owned a pair of these for less than a year and they are amazing speakers with peerless build quality.
Upscale Audio is up front with customers I have had some good experiences with them, but I'm disappointed currently. I bought an item which (I learned after the fact) isn't in stock and it's taking weeks.
Help me build up a jazz album collection. Can you suggest a must have album? "Katanga" Curtis Amy/Dupree Bolton.
Dusting gear and turntable Vacuum regularly and stay out of the room when the sun is shining on the equipment.
At the top of the line is it really all that different? I'm quite happy with where my system is at, but like most of you, it's not a stable condition. I still look at gear every day, wondering if the $40k (used) speakers will be appreciably better than the $15k (used) that I spent. Same goes for the el...
Warm, flexible, cheap-ish cables? Mogami.
Mystery with woofers. Help! Thanks everyone!! @knotscott Interesting. I think you’re correct about the bass. The midbass was taking care of all but the lowest frequencies, and then crossed over to the sub. This explains how I missed the inactive woofers. I texted with Dick...
Mystery with woofers. Help! I think the answer is simple---I need jumpers!!! The woofer section isn't powered up! Duh. I feel like an arse, but the question remains---why does the bass sound adequate without the woofers powered up and sub disengaged? |
