Has anyone tried the new Audio Mirror Tubadour MKIV SE DAC?
I have the MkIII SE and like it; curious about the upgrades.  Not curious enough to send it back to Vlad.  So, like you, waiting for some reviews to come in. The MkIII SE is really good - based on that, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase Vlad's late...
Review ... Denon DCS-A110 Anniversary Edition
I bought a Denon A110 a couple of months ago.  Fantastic unit-agree with the assessment above. It also serves well as a CD transport into my Bricasti M3 DAC.  Sound is comparable or perhaps better than the internal ethernet card on the Bricasti th...
Audio By Van Alstine DVA M225 mono amps
I own these amps - paired right now with a Luxman C900u pre and Dynaudio Heritage Specials.  Great amps.  The dual differential design to remove residual distortion seems much in line with what Ralph Karsten has been saying about the philosophy dr...
Lumin vs Bricasti Volume Control
The Bricasti volume control is analog, which is a good thing.  I've run my M3 direct to amps. I thought it sounded very clear but soundstage lost dimension compared to my preamps (BHK Pre with NOS tubes and Luxman c900u).  YMMV as I suspect a lot ...
Anyone own Linear Tube Audio Amps?
I own the preamp and love it.  I've heard the amps at shows - they tend to run clean/lean if you are looking for a warm tube signature.  Possibly their ZOTL 40 with the EL34s would be the ticket - supposedly runs more of a tubey nature. Also their...
Pre amp discussion/ recommendations sub $10k
The upgrade to the LTA/newer models with the adjustable gain adds more steps to the volume control. I am getting pretty fine adjustments now. I know they work with efficient speakers at LTA - just give them a call and ask.
Pre amp discussion/ recommendations sub $10k
+1 on the LTA microzotl preamp  I just upgraded mine to the level 2 model and it is fantastic.  On the level of great preamps with clarity and drive across the frequency range.  Compared to the original version (no slouch), level 2 has a bit more ...
Amplfiers that Sound like Pass 30.8 that are not so heavy
Van Alstine DVA M225 monoblocks - 17lbs each (shipped).  Amazing quality and small size and weight.   Class AB with a bias to class A for the first 20 watts or so. Have been compared to big Pass monoblocks in multiple reviews.  I own a pair - amaz...
DAC w Tube itch: Audio Mirror
@Verdantaudio - that is very interesting observation about the tube output stage in DACs in general.  I own the AudioMirror DAC (SE III) and it is very good.  I would put in on par with the Bricasti M3 (which I also own) - similar sound quality ov...
Preamp shootout: Linear tube audio, Modwright, etc.
The PS Audio BHK is really good, but I found it responds well to tube rolling - you really need to roll the tubes to get the most out of it. Since it does respond to tube rolling, I would call it a good tube preamp.  I do like that it is a bit of ...
Your Favorite Sounding Power Amp, $5000 US Retail max.
I own the AVA DVA 225s - reviews are spot on.  These are great amps.  Only caveat is that each amp operates natively in bridged mode, 1/2ing the speaker impedance as seen by the amp.  Very low impedances on some speakers may be a problem.  I use t...
Your Favorite Sounding Power Amp, $5000 US Retail max.
Van Alstine DVA M225 monoblocks - ~$3400 for the pair.  Factory direct made in the USA.  Amazing performance and value for the money.  Compares favorably to high-end monoblocks - many have compared to Pass Labs.  Read the Part-Time Audiophile Revi...
What are you using as a streamer? Constructive feedback please.
@scthom - sorry, been out of touch for a couple of days.  To your question on the M3 vs the AM Tubadour III SE - both are great DACs.   Overall neutral presentation and musical overall, which is to say nothing in their presentation is prominent.  ...
What are you using as a streamer? Constructive feedback please.
@pdreher - yes, I did.  Both the Bricasti and Auralic showed improvements.  Probably the best bang for the buck is the Bricasti network option at a $1000 add-on (but you do need software to stream to - MCAST is free; I use Roon on a SGC i5 server)...

I started with Bluesound Node 2i and am generally happy with it. I upgraded it with an external power supply mod to take the AC out of the chassis -  makes a difference.  On my main systems, I upgraded to an Auralic Aries G2 using wireless driving...
