Do you ever doubt you ears ? I refuse to leave my system on...my electron manipulation hobby devices hew to my absolute control...sometimes I even listen to it when it's off...a sort of high level meditative quiet...it all just sits there peacefully waiting for my command. Ac...
static charge I had a similar issue with a new Acurus A250 some time ago...little static-ish sound from one side...sent it back twice for free warranty repair and then sold it.
Do you ever doubt you ears ? Minor waiting: good...things that take weeks to supposedly "break in": bad. Although I do like it when a really sweet sounding component surprises me by getting better. That's VERY good.
Long XLR's: PAD Venustas versus Mogami Regarding the speaker spike suggestion...After messing around with spikes for many years I recently put Vibrapods under my smallish floorstanding speakers (wood floor). Sounds great...and I see more speaker manufacturers (and tweek designers) usin...
Do you ever doubt you ears ? I think "waiting a few weeks" should be for MINOR but arguably important improvement...if something is unlistenable I say life is too short to wait for it to come around. But then I'm old.
Keith Jarrett Trio, Live stock A "Jarrett" aside...Keith's son Gabriel Jarrett is an amazing jazz drummer. I love a trio he had (they still gig, though rarely) called "Vorcza" and play their one album frequently. Saw 'em live a couple times...just insanely good, smart modern ja...
SummerTime and Amp Heat By "a matter of degree" I meant (along with a lame pun) the degree to which you're using the amp...running into a 4 ohm load to get 115db peaks for 5 hours might cause more heat than a day of light background music. I have a later MOSFET Forte' A/...
Do you ever doubt you ears ? I notice when something is wrong...a pair of new supposedly decent balanced cables recently sounded SO bad I refused to wait for whatever the break-in period was, and replaced 'em forthwith. Also a weird thing I bet most of us experience is when y...
SummerTime and Amp Heat I think it's a matter of degree.
Kavent S33 owners...are you out there? Funny? My posts are all DEAD SERIOUS! I did see the archived post...it was part of what led me to buy the S33. Interestingly (or not) some Canadian dude who had posted pics of the S33 later posted something about Kelsie Audio going out of biz...wh...
Entry level recommendations??? I also own a Cambridge 640P...bought for about $179 new (fairly recently) as I wanted/needed that rumble filter (not readily available in most phono preamps). I did an experiment yesterday where I A/B/Cd it with some other sources...CD player and ...
Stupid question If you hook up speakers backwards and play certain frequencies at high enought levels, it can trigger a rip in the "time continuim" of our current dimension of reality and end all life as we know it. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing...
Stupid question Don't do it. It can mess up your life.
Manual vs. Auto Bias I thought "fixed bias" meant you could NOT adjust the bias...no pot available in the design for that. I think most tube amps allow for bias adjustment, and auto bias merely does it for you on the fly...and that's good.
LP care Nature DOES abhor a vacuum...look it up. When I manually spin my LPs in the Spin Clean, it strenghtens my forearms thus allowing me to skip that day's trip to the gym. Also, I drink the used water as I assume it imparts some musical information in... |
