Which to upgrade first: Turntable or Phono Preamp
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.  There are very good comments from both sides.  Now I have some homework to do.   Will post back if I do make a change.  Thanks again!
Which to upgrade first: Turntable or Phono Preamp
Hey @ml8764ag Glad to know you love your PHO 701. I’m not entirely unhappy with it. One thing I wish it can do better is the noise floor. I wish it was quieter. I bought a NOS RCA tube and it sounds a little nicer than the stock one, also seems a ...
Which to upgrade first: Turntable or Phono Preamp
Thanks for all the suggestions so far.   I might be leaning towards phono stage first.  Part of the reason is that I don't have a lot of understanding of how much does a turntable matter.   In my mind, the cartridge matters more than a turntable i...
If you had access to a time machine, what concerts would you go back to see?
Queen in 1978.   My first concert ever, and my only time seeing Queen. The Who in 1979.  My first Who concert.  Too bad Keith Moon had already passed away then.  I have seen them at least 6 or 7 times since.   Still my all time favorite band.  I ev...
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
Can't agree more with @danvignau I, too, own a pair of the latest B&W 800 series and I don't find them bright at all.   I'm also someone who can't stand bright sounding system.   I have had tinnitus for years and bright sound aggravates it.I r...

TIDAL on SALE!
Great.  Thanks @jmbumgarner01.   I'm actually going through this exercise right now.   I wanted to choose option 1, but not sure if I'm going to lose all my favorites.   I'm waiting to hear back from Tidal.I'm curious which option did you choose? ...
TIDAL on SALE!
This sounds like a good deal.   I'm current Tidal HiFi subscriber at $19.99/month.  Does anyone know if I can apply this discount to my existing Tidal account?   or do I have to start a new account and cancel my existing one? Thanks very much.
Recommendation for a replacement speaker cable
+1 on the Kimber Kable 12 TC.  I also have the biwire version.  Love the sound, and seems very resistant to noise.   I have them mixed up with all my power and interconnect cables, but never seem to pick up any interference.
Lumin X1 latest Review like we have been saying
Thanks @ozzy I did consider the PS Direct Stream when I was shopping for a new streamer/dac.   I ended up deciding on the T2 and never looked back.   Thanks for the comment on X1 and glad to know you are enjoying it.
Lumin X1 latest Review like we have been saying
Thanks @goldprintaudio You've got a good point on details.   There does seem to be a little more details with SBooster.   I wonder if that contributes to the brightness.  I've only had the power supply for one week.  I wonder if a little more burn...
Lumin X1 latest Review like we have been saying
Thanks @goldprintaudio and @audiotroy for the replies.   One more question if you don't mind.   Does the X1 sound bright at all on the high end?   Nothing bothers me more than bright sounding systems.  Although I do own a pair of B&W 804 D3 wh...
Lumin X1 latest Review like we have been saying
Hi @audiotroy sorry to join late on this thread.   I currently own the Lumin T2, and am really enjoying it.   I've been getting the upgrade fever lately and considering the X1.  I'm sure the X1 is a much better player.   Just curious if you think ...
B&W 804 D3 vs 803 D3
Thanks @lalitk Unfortunately, 802D3 might just be too big for my space.Actually, I have a somewhat related question.   Has anyone heard anything about possibility of a D4 version of the 800 series coming out soon?   I wonder if I should just wait ...
What do/did you do for a living?
I'm a software engineer.   My system was about $10K, but since around March this year, with the COVID-19 lockdown, I've added $30K to my system.   I bought everything online except for my new speakers which cannot be sold online.  Thank goodness f...
