Where does music come from that streams?
Speaking as someone familiar with record companies, usually the master used for the cd is also supplied to the streamers. Some services, like Qobuz, request a higher bit rate file, in that case often the lp master is used, if a 24 bit lp master wa...
Second-hand record stores in Tokyo
There are a lot of used record stores in Tokyo, in Japan really. Many of them specialize. They’ll be a whole book in fact on used record stores and what their specialities are. One thing to keep in mind is, many of them are not in the first floor....
Lush and Romantic Tube Amps
You’re not going to like this answer, hifi is of course very personal. I like a tubey sound, -  not a sound that has tubes but wants to be closer to an integrated circuit profile. Which to me means using a low power amp, because the tubes that hav...
Does streaming music equate to high concert ticket prices
I think it’s partially the fact that most tickets for concerts go through one company, the fact that bands saw scalpers make off with huge payoffs and the fact, I feel most importantly, that your interested in older music that you listened to when...
Tube stereo sounds -smaller- after being on
Hi DeKay, I've been in Mississippi last week, so have done nothing. Someone suggested the rectifier tube which is a good suggestion. I don't think I have a spare. My EMT turntable however, needs a power converter so I can take that out of the syst...
Tube stereo sounds -smaller- after being on
Hey Mijostyn, everybody has their mindsets. Some people think the world is flat or the US never landed on the moon. I’ve been making records for the last 40 years, before cd and digital. I was around when cd’s were going to solve everything, and d...
Tube stereo sounds -smaller- after being on
Ok a couple of posts to unpack here. Pindec not to open a can of worms, but I’m more in the musical nirvana side of things as opposed to high fi nirvana. The system has a fault somewhere, so you’re right the equipment doesn’t need to be changed, I...

Tube stereo sounds -smaller- after being on
The mixer is a great sounding one hand built in Australia called a Condesa Lucia.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I only thought about the line voltage being an issue when I wrote the above post. The amp came with a Chinese made voltage regulator that doesn’t seem to be adjustable and shows 217 volt output on the led screen....
Why cuts into vinyl covers?
I can imagine your getting confused here as there is some misinformation. A cut out is not a store play copy but overstock that is sold in bulk at a low price to resell to stores. The mob pretty much controlled this business to the extent I worked...
Power Conditioners
I bought a Furman for work where I have a couple of 300b mono blocks, ampex preamp, Fairchild 412 turntable and omega speakers. It made such a difference I bought two more for my systems at home where it made no difference.

Usless but interesting ....how many of you old timers started with original Large Advents?
I had stacked large Advents as well  They were great. Replaced with B&W 802Fs, also great.
Strange film on new records.
You could try wood glue. There is a YouTube on cleaning records with wood glue and my friends in the collector vinyl world do use this method. If you have a record cleaning machine, there are a variety of solvents sold for different issues that yo...
