Alesis active monitor MKII

This is a non-audiophile question so the folks with golden ears,please do not be offended.

I have an urge to try the Alesis active MK II and the non active version for my near field listening due to my declining in hearing (!).

Source will be my laptop and the pre will be my Yamaha RXV 1900. Jazz,hip-hop and classic rock are all in the mix. Any one who has experienced with these monitor, please give me your feedback.
