Anyone Have Their Rig On The Floor?

I'm finding the audio table I bought last year a bit lacking in room and integrity. The lower shelf seems to sag a bit, my components on said shelf look tilted. I thought of having a piece of good quality wood cut to size and I would lay it down between my speakers. Then arrange my components as neatly and efficiently as possible. What do you think?

Thanks Mr Tennis and Russ. All my components would sit on the wood with V-Pads and or DH Squares under them. Going to give this some serious thought... zar
I have a low shelf but as long as you don't put it directly on the carpet, I think the floor gives the best sound, turntables excepted.

Thanx,
Russ
i have all of my components on the floor. my preamp rests on 4 sound boosters, which rest on a 1 and 1/4 inch maple base upon a carpet floor. my cd player rests on memory foam which lies on a 1 and 1/4 inch maple base on a carpet floor. my amplifiers are also on the floor, with a similar arrangement as source components.

in my case it is because i am a reviewer and it is easier to place new gear on the floor than to take components to and from a shelf, especially when components are heavy.

yes, bending down to raise or lower volume and replace cds is somewhat of a nuisance, but at the moment, until my system is more stable, it is so much easeier to change interconnect cables and line cords when equipment is on the floor.

the floor is where its at, sometimes !
