BD and DVD-A

Not much is written about these formats here.  But I recently rediscovered them when I upgraded my system and utilized the Oppo universal disc player.  The sound of these discs is really extraordinary.  The headroom and spacial effects are amazing, much better than the conventional.  I know not much is available in software, especially DVD-A which is just about defunct. But, what a pity this system never caught on.  At least some BD’s are still being made.
Any thoughts?
