LLLinn Karik! You can find one, for that amount, (negotiate little..)it easily beats anything in that price range, and above...(later you can add Numerik d/a, that combo was "stereophile" class "A" for many years)
Arcam Alpha 8 or 8se, great musical cd player and fully upgradable to Alpha 9 (ring DAC) for superb sound on a budget. Upgrade only costs difference bewteen 2 units! If Arcam improves DAC again, you can upgrade again. Used Arcams appear on auction sites at $450-$550 - but you better be quick! Check comments in Stereophile & Audioreview. Also new Musical Fidelity @just under 1K from Audio Advisor is excellent player. You can try that out for 30days in system @ home. Happy hunting!
