Iam using PS Audio wave power cable on my PT3 and it made an incredible difference. On my ST 1400 Mk2 I am using a DIY Belden cable.
Best power cords for b&K gear
I am putting together this system
Sonus faber grand piano home speakers
B&K reference 20 preamp
B&K reference 200.2 power amplifier
acoustic zen Hologram II speaker cable.
WHAT POWER CORDS FOR THE PREAMP AND AMP SHOULD I GET.i CAN GO UP TO &650 FOR BOTH. I LIKE ACOUSTIC ZEN KRAKATOA, I AM NOT SURE FOR THE PRAMP THOUGH. LET ME NOW.
Thanks in advance

Another angle to look at. I once had to send my pre-amp and monoblocks ($11,000.00) in for servicing. I brought out my old B&K PT-3 tuner/pre-amp and ST1400 Mk 2 amp and stuck them in the system until my main pieces were returned. I used the stock power cords since the PT-3 has the little whatchamacallit connection. I had very expensive interconnects, Stealth Indra's, in my system, and of course used them on the B&K pre-amp and amp. The sound was amazing! I could have lived with that system had I not had the other pieces. You might consider taking your $650.00 and buying the best used set of interconnects that you can, and then upgrade your power cords later. This Supra Sword interconnect is fantastic, and only $475.00 http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ddcablintr&1246809816&/Supra-sword--Award-Winning--no |
If I read your post correctly, you are planning to spend about 30% of the cost of your amp and preamp on power cords. IMHO, I wouldn't spend that much on power cord. I don't think you would hear much difference if any. I would just use the stocked cords and save up the money for other upgrades. It would be much more cost effective. |
