And companies that sell high-priced cables aren't doing the same thing?

I never said that, cable companies play the same game. My point was why take one used car salesman's word with higher regard than the other used car salesman? They are all playing to their own best interests.

it seems the dead horse has been killed several times.

the number of responses seems to me totally out of proportion to the subject.

if companies exaggerate the claims of their products, the consumer will eventually find out and the company will lose business.

is audiogon an outlet for audio "yentaism" ?

Anyone remember the old Tales from the Crypt with the cable guy? Abel with the cable? Would be a good slogan.
