Chord Poly w/ Mojo 2 - Cannot get it to work away from Home WiFi

I'm using Mojo 2 w/ Poly, and am attempting to get it to play music from the installed MicroSD card when away from Home WiFi, using iOS.

I've been getting detailed instructions from ChatGPT and the Mojo Manual, but I can't get it to work because the various softwares are different from what I'm being told to do.

I'm open to other software for MPD or UPnP or whatever works - this is what I found that seemed to be recommended.

MPD player - Rigelian.

And the very spare and useless but essential GoFigure by Chord.

Can someone please give broad strokes as to the best set up - HotSpot on iPhone or the Poly? Give me big picture as to what connects to what before drilling down. I'm so frustrated that I can't see a big picture and don't fully understand how it is supposed to work.

THANK YOU.

I still question the convenience and practicality of carrying the Mojo-Poly as a mobile audio player. Aside from its inability to browse and select music easily, it is bulkier than a cell phone or smartphone, which 99% of travelers and commuters already carry. Paired with a capable dongle and good headphones, you can enjoy nearly the same audiophile-grade experience on the go. Even if you don’t stream, a phone with large built-in storage—up to 512 GB—should be more than sufficient for a substantial music library compared to a microSD card. You can also use Roon ARC on a mobile device to access your Roon library.
