Dennis Had FIRE 300 B tube SET

Hi- I have Fire Bottle 300B on the way. Any info from an owner of one of these is greatly appreciated, and… has anyone placed a tube preamp ahead of it? I have a Rogue RP-1…

Well, after being totally impressed with Inspire 300B from Dennis Had, I just had also to give into a 35 year old preamp in the Nakamichi CA-7A, with remote. So so impressed with internals and their amazing Nakamichi ability to be always ahead of the future (even though they are no more). Watching any You Tube videos on their stuff makes one wonder why they don’t/can’t build quality like this anymore. NAK charged a lot but quality meant a lot to them. To me the solid build and sealed cabinets of solid aluminum are amazing. No real worry about age of electrolytic capacitors, and crazy numbers like 0.0002 distortion… I like their acoustic dials for low, mids, and treble… more fun with Klipsch adjustments… I’ll let you know if the hybrid Rogue RP-1 gets beat out for the SS sound signature … matched with the Western Electric 300b’s.

Nakamichi CA-7A in hand. So so defined and refined. Best I’ve ever heard… easily a $10k these days. Such precision. Attenuation is slight and quality changes to Mid, Treble, and Bass. Klipsch Cornwalls have never sounded like this now, with Had’s Inspire 300B amp. Holy Cow!

To @moose89 As a former Nak fan and owner myself, certainly can appreciate if you found a nice match for yourself pairing this the DH 300B. With that said, paring one of Dennis' preamps with his amps brings its own presentation for sure.  Sure appreciate mine, and feel the preamp with the right tubes brings its own type of sound and enjoyment.

A good friend of mine is setting up to resale a good portion of his Inspire amp collection, however the one piece he confirmed he will be keeping is the Inspire preamp, fwiw. Both of us have tired our DH preamps with many different tube and solid state amps with enjoyable results.  Enjoy your preamp, it's always fun to find a great combo that works well together.

Yes. I thought I’d add the DH pre but I also have the First Watt J2…. Amazing match to the NAK pre CA-7A. Both Nelson Pass designs.

I wish I could get a manual for my DH 300 B… I don’t know WHY there is a BIAS JACK hole, on the top of the amp, with no adjustment screw, and it’s a self- bias amp?

I'm enjoying this thread although getting in a bit late.  I owned a Cary SLA70 Signature for 15 years so also a Dennis Had fan.  I had been following Dennis' sales on eBay 4-5 yrs ago but was never was able to get in touch with him.  I wanted to see if he would ever build 300B mono blocks.  I ended up talking with Billy Wright at Cary and trading the SLA70 for a new CAD-300SEI integrated that I upgraded with WE 300B tubes. Not a mono setup but a beautiful sounding amp that is my primary headphone system.  More recently I purchased the QS Mid Monos so I could do some tube rolling.  I rotate the CAD 300 and Mid Monos along with a Pass XA25 and First Watt SIT3 between 3 systems, one of which runs Klipsch Belle speakers that I purchased new back in 1984.  All sound wonderful with the large horns which are modified with Crites stuff.  I'm currently looking for line stage for the mid monos.
