Do you think audiophiles are the most gullible hobbyists

They seem to fall for anything. I have had other hobbies before and people seem to be more sensible. What is it about Audiophiles that makes them so gullible?

As to what thing seems preposterous, too preposterous to ever consider, I suspect it all depends on the thing being considered and the person doing the considering. There are a lot of things in audio that were once considered absurd or preposterous that are now commonplace or at least relatively common. Things like vibration isolation, tiny little bowl resonators, hi res downloads, WA Quantum Chips, Schumann frequency generators, CD enhancers, CD demagnetizers, cable elevators, fuses with directional arrows and scattered laser light absorbers. I admit Mpingo discs, Silver Rainbow Foil, Lessloss Blackbody, the Red X Pen and the Teleportation Tweak are probably not going mainstream any time soon.

PT Barnum once opined folks would be much better off generally speaking if they believed in too much rather than too little.

One assumes those were negative ions ago.
Audiophiles aren’t really very gullible. What they actually are:

wary
cynical
Suspicious
skeptical
shrewd
astute
doubting
incredulous
distrustful
hardheaded
unbelieving
clever
cannot be fooled

I'm getting a very bad feeling.

By the way it should probably be pointed out that the primary things the Swiss have given mankind is the cuckoo clock and a safe place for crooks to hide their money.

"Examples of the cuckoo clock, beyond their facade, can be wonderful examples of precision engineering."

Yeah, right.  And Switzerland uses a cuckoo clock for its National Time Standard.

Uh, I'm pretty sure I'm not very good at obfuscation, either.  I can't even pronounce it.

"I saw a show recently on T.V. That said the happiest country is Denmark. They gave the reasons as free health care, free education, giving woman paid maturnity leave and not a big disparity in Income levels between different professions. They said the United States ranked in the mid 20’s as far as happiness goes."

Boy, are you gullible.

One assumes the folks in Denmark are especially happy when the temperature gets above freezing. On the other hand, free sex along with everything else free might explain the very high number of smiles.

A quick search on Google (friend) gives these results for happiest countries.

I’m not particularly good at making watches or milking cows so I guess as far as becoming a Swiss citizen goes I’m out.

Looking on the bright side Switzerland does make a helluva good cough drop.  Ri-co-la!  Naturally soothing relief that lasts. :-)

Andy the hammer steps up to the plate.  But just gets a lot of air.
Czarivey, at least I have real breakfast, not cheap vodka and potato chips.
If you think audiophiles are gullible here’s a news flash. These hobbys make audiophiles look like a upper management meeting of the Skeptics Society.

Good catch, Andy.  The plural of goofball is goofballs.  Get it?  :-)

I know you are but what am I? And it still doesn't explain why you’re a goofball.

Speaking of glue have you been sniffing some?
I suspect gentle readers here are capable of deciding who’s actually doing all the squealing like a pig. But getting back to the original question as to whether audiophiles are the most gullible folks around, I suggest if an audiophile suspects foul play or suspects someone is taking advantage of him, or is feeling a little naive and vulnerable Lol perhaps with the cost of electronics or cables or the efficacy of some new high tech widget, who knows, then it’s incumbent on that person to satisfy his skepticism and curiosity and head to the library or go on line, Google is your friend. Sometimes the most difficult question can be answered rather rapidly. Of course the impossibly difficult questions take a little bit longer. Lol

Right, and Burt shot an arrow through the offending redneck’s chest. "It's a center shot."

It's not that simple.  If I had the money and I spent a lot of money on say a Ferrari I would be happy. Or if I spent a lot of money on speakers, say Raidho or Rockport or Magico, I would be happy.  Obviously if you're a poor audiophile you will have to make do and be happy with that. You will have to settle for something like a Honda or a Toyoto.  Cars and audio are not like the cosmetics industry at all. Money can buy happiness.

Fortunately I’ve never been one to pay much attention to angry foaming at the mouth wannabees. Now it really is the end of the discussion.

Or is it? I'm betting there will be more whining and bleating.
