Doshi 2.1

Hello Audiogoners,

I bought a Doshi 2.1 used from here a couple years ago and it didn’t come with a manual

so kinda been figuring things out here and there.

its my understanding my phonostage has 2 mc and 1 mm

the MC is Jfet

so does that mean that I can only hear the tubes from the MM?
Most MC cartridges would need a Sut if used in the MM input

It’s a bit confusing.

can anyone shed some light on this?

thanks,Scott

I understand now.

Thank you for taking the time to explain it.

No He is still in business,

i emailed him yesterday but hadn’t heard back so

I figured someone here would know.
The MC inputs feed into a JFET which acts to boost the output signal voltage of the cartridge.  From there, the signal goes through the exact same MM phono circuit that is also connected via the MM inputs.  In other words, you DO get the tube circuitry via the MC inputs.  The difference is the use of the JFET in the signal path, to amplify signal voltage.  Think of it this way: the JFET takes the place of a SUT.  The difference is the JFET is an active device; the SUT is a passive device that trades off current for voltage.  Yes, "most MC cartridges would need a SUT" if connected via the MM inputs.  I am surprised you could not obtain this information from Doshi; is he or are they defunct?
