I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for recordings of Glazunov's violin concerto. Preferably, it should have crystal-clear sound, and a fast and stunning performance.
You can't go wrong w/Heifetz & Hendl on RCA - on CD you could also get an outstanding Sibelius VC as well depending on which CD you get, there are multiple releases w/different partnering pieces. If you want something new, and you want to explore his symphonies you might enjoy Polyansky's on Chandos which includes the VC and the 1st Symphony. I have really enjoyed Polyansky's Glazunov's Symphonies #'s 1 thru 5 on Chandos.
The Heifitz, with Hendl conducting, is superb. Should match just what you're looking for. Re-mastered and re-issued by Classic Records on vinyl in very good sound -- RCA LSC 2734.
