I enjoy this piece immensely, probably due to the synthesis of female voice and a symphonic work. Can someone recommend other compositions that I might enjoy?
I keep trying to find anything I like as much as Gorecki #3 and coming up crickets. Just listened to Bruckner #8 in hope, and found it shrieky. I own 4 versions of G #3 and dig them all.
Upon reflection , aka forgetful in my old age, Gorecki pretty much copied Karol Szymanowski . His Symphony #3 ""Song of the Night" in particular.Gorecki got popular because some BBC program used him for a theme. Szymanowski (1882-1937) is a better composer.
His Daddy.Lutoslawski, a number of his works on Naxos with Polish National RSO, all very good to excellent. His Symphony #4 is a masterpiece. In Poland itself he is widely considered THE best Polish composer in a hundred years, many say since Chopin.
