Kef LS50

Are these speakers really that good ?       are there any weaknesses of these speakers that one should consider before buying them ?

looking for a monitor speaker that has a low sensitivity and these have me thinking about them.

had a pair of Dali Zensors that I really like , but the tweeter went out in one of the speakers and looking for a replacement.

other ideas welcome....and looking for a monitor in the $500-1200 range

equipment used is

ayre cd player
innersound esl 300 amp
aric audio tube preamp.
2 svs subs
birdscantrow
the sound from the Dali and svs subs actually sounded clearer than the Magnepan 1.7's that I had.      heard a lot more of the music using these monitors.

The only weakness I can think of is that they require expensive and big amplification

how much bigger of a amp do I need ?      the Innersound should be more than enough.

They are great monitors. They sound great with good amplification. The best sound I have gotten from them were from a Benchmark AHB2 and my current setup with a KRELL K-300i integrated. These 2 are very different sounding but to me both sound great on the LS50.

I had a Parsound A23 on it for a while and it was OK. The new Parasound A1+ maybe something I would pair with the LS50.
Sorry I was just making a general observation about the power hungry nature of LS50s, not necessarily a comment on your particular amplifier. The point is that unlike other speakers in that price range, the LS50s respond well to higher levels of amplification, and can continue to scale well beyond what their price tag might suggest.
Why not look for a replacement tweeter, or replace both to keep them matched.

and I did think of that....and went to the Dali site to look for a us dealer, but it didnt show one ?    but there is a member / dealer on here   , so might contact him to see all what is involved.
