Kim Simmonds Has Passed @ 75.

Kim Simmonds, co-founder of Savoy Brown and guitarist extraordinaire has passed away from Cancer at the young age of 75.  He was a Blues oriented guitar player and has been called the Jimi Hendrix of the Blues.  I got to see him perform twice, both times in small clubs and he was very mesmerizing. His last few albums, “Lost in the Delta” and “The Devil to Pay” were true masterpieces, his guitar playing exemplary, and very strong vocals.  I also saw him perform with Savoy Brown in the early 70’s when the albums “Street Corner Talking” and “Hellbound Train” were released.  Another one of the greats gone way too soon.

Have many great memories with Savoy Brown music playing!  I'll have to play them during one of these holiday listening sessions, and with Christine gone, some Fleetwood Mac, both pre Christine with late great Peter Green and later stuff.

I used to have a Savoy Brown album in my early teens, before my listening tastes changed and went in a different direction.

I don’t like to nitpick (well, actually I enjoy nitpicking, I just don’t want to be criticized for indulging in it), and I don’t mean any disrespect to the departed, but referring to someone who makes it to 75 as ’young’ and ’being taken all to soon’ ,annoys me.Janis Joplin, Himi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Karen Carpenter,  John Lennon, etc were truly taken from us prematurely. As noted up thread, 75 is just a few years short of the average U.S. lifespan. It seems younger than it hformerly had as I get closer to that number, but....come on

@mahler123 , I wrote it and as far as I am concerned, he was taken way too soon. I guess you couldn’t help yourself complaining about other artists you felt that died too young and my saying Kim died too soon @75. You have just proved to me why I never get involved in your threads. I hope what you said makes you feel proud at this supposedly joyous time of year.
