Legacy Audio Focus SE and rivals

I am Interested at Legacy Audio Focus SE - their natural look Is exceptional, they are very efficient, got 2 x 12 Inch woofers which cut off  low end at 18 Hz at - 2 dB , curious about  HF end where cut off Is 30 kHz

I would like to ask you - are they neutral sound speaker, are they sensitive to closer to wall placing

are there any better alternative at that price

sasho

I have been listening to my Focal SEs for years driven by a BAT 600SE power amp and BAT VK-31SE preamp fed by an Ayre CD player and a VPI Classic turntable. As long as you pair them with quality equipment you will be totally blown away with the sound these speakers deliver.  They are one of best values is high end audio today.  In my opinion Bill Duddleston is a genius and one of the greatest speaker designers out there. He understands the science and the sound.

Thank you very much for replies.

Still Interested about differences In sound between Focus SE and Signature SE

From @audiotroy post looks like Signatures sound neutral, but then we know that Focus SE Is a choice of some remastering studios.

If I have to place speakers very close to a furniture among them will I loose too much sound stage

I’ll tell you my experiences. Back about 7 years ago I started on my quest. I called the dealer that handled Legacy. Told him who I was, and I was willing to drive these 300 miles between us to have a listen to a set of Signatures. At the time they were 6500.00 and that’s about all my wallet would absorb. My wife had had just about enough of me changing from one system to another. But I just could not resist this drug we call audio(phile). I ask him if he had prices displayed on the speakers. He answered "Yes". I said, "Can you take them off?" He quickly replied, "Why you bringing your wife"? I chuckled Yes. So, I grabbed a few CD’s and we headed down. We LOVED the Signatures. He left us alone in the demo room for about 20 minutes and then returned to see what we thought. I was wondering about break in and ask him if the Tweeter would sound any different with a few more hours on it. I was just pretty much making conversation, but he said. Well, the Focas SE’s have been here 3 months and have pretty much been played continually "Have a listen to them as they have the same tweeter". Sue was standing right behind me as he fired up the Focus. It only took about 30 or 40 seconds and to my surprise Sue says, "Oh My God babe, that’s what we want"! I told her those are kind of out of our price range. She then blows me away with, "well, our stock is doing pretty good" I bout fell over. That was the beginning of my Legacy journey. I now have a complete Legacy system, Speakers, Subs and Amps. I am done hunting. After 70 years, my journey is final over. And we couldn't be happier.
