Long(too) captive A/C cords

1. Easiest solution: Cut them to the length that works in your system and reterminate the plugs.
2. Open the gear, disconnect the power cords inside of the equipment, cut to length (i.e., cut off the unterminated end) and then reattach inside (no need to reterminate).
3. If you are worried about resale and want to preserve the original PCs, then open the gear, disconnect the stock PCs inside and remove them, and then replace with bulk power cords in the length you need, and terminate with new plugs. You can reattach the original cords if you ever sell the gear.

Will investigate further.Sounds like a good plan.. Unfortunately, I have no skill set in terms of reterminating the plugs.....I'd have to take it someplace to have a professional do it.

I agree that if they really are too long and you are sure you’ll never need the length cutting them yourself is a good idea.  Depending on the angle you need I use Leviton hospital grade plugs when connecting to a wall socket.  The extra thick prongs help maximize gripping force and the 90 degree angle minimizes the necessary floor space.  Otherwise if you need them to go in straight I recommend these.  The only tool you really need is a screwdriver and wire stripper.   Just make sure you get the wires right.  The hot(black) is the small tab, the white(neutral) is the large one and the green is the center.
