I agree that if they really are too long and you are sure you’ll never need the length cutting them yourself is a good idea. Depending on the angle you need I use Leviton hospital grade plugs when connecting to a wall socket. The extra thick prongs help maximize gripping force and the 90 degree angle minimizes the necessary floor space. Otherwise if you need them to go in straight I recommend these. The only tool you really need is a screwdriver and wire stripper. Just make sure you get the wires right. The hot(black) is the small tab, the white(neutral) is the large one and the green is the center.
