Hi,
I had the old Shure based model back in the 70s. It was a beautiful design but difficult to set up. But once properly balanced it was terrific for its day. Some years ago I bought a used universal version for a second system for old times sake. In trying to set it up I found that there was a bent part that couldn't be fixed or replaced and had to give it all up. However, in figuring out what cartridge to use, I realized that the low clearance of the straight tonearm would only allow for a short body cartridge. Taller cartridges wont clear the platter. Therefore, your best option is a Denon DL 103r. It will fit perfectly and give you great sound. That was my original plan. One of modified versions [wood body or other material] might work as well. Hope this helps.
