modwright LS100 vs VTL 2.5 preamp.........

currently have and like the cj sound pv12 and 2500a, thinking of trying something else. speakers are alon IV's.  fall back is the classic se II, but I know its not in their league. any suggestions and experience would be greatly appreciated,  thank you in advance. lastly hoping to move up to a dna 500 or premier 350 if I can score one down the road.............
