Something's worth whatever the buyer pays for it, right? And something's worth whatever joy the listener gets out of it.
Are Bose overrated? Not really. For millions of Americans, they represent a comfortable level of fidelity for what they cost. Same for B&W or ML. Most people don't care about tubes or IC's or how fast a speaker is. They want sound that fulfills them.
And like any devoted hobbyists, we're nitpicking through gravel to find the perfect rock.
