Pioneer House Sound from the 70s

this was also the period of the power race. most watts for a receiver.

Back around 1979,  I heard a SX1280 with a couple of parts upgrades that was surprisingly good.  A bit midrange forward, a tad of grunge on top,  but nothing crazy and very listenable.  It seems to me that we were using DLK 3's and ESS B122's....   I believe with good  crossovers both of those speakers would still be decent today.

Back in 70' I just started discovering the HI FI. But I do remember Pioneer sound of 80'. I had A 80 and later A 777 Int. amplifiers with the S 1010 speakers. That was the sound.

usblues, i remember the sequerra 1 tuner as the best at that time.
