Snap Crackle Pop Streaming

Set up a HiFi system recently. Initially, I had a direct USB link from a Mac Mini M1 running Roon to my Anthem STR amp until I could pick out a streamer. Sound was good, no issues.  Went with an Auralic G2.1 streamer, partially because of its wireless internet capability (no Ethernet ports in music room and not easy to add one), and I’m very happy with its functionality and sound quality EXCEPT it has introduced consistent popping noises that sound like dirty vinyl. I’ve tested Roon v. Qobuz via Lightning app: same issue. I’ve screwed around with every setting on the Auralic with only minor improvements.  I have a new USB cable en route in case that’s the issue.  Any other suggestions?  Popping sound is annoying enough that it needs to be fixed or the Auralic returned, we’re talking between 6-10 per minute. Thanks!

If your WAP has an Ethernet port run an Ethernet cable from it to the streamer.  If not get something like a TP-link extender from Amazon and run a cable from that and if it doesn’t fix the problem just return it.  A bonus is you’ll likely get even better sound quality by using an Ethernet cable.  Hope this helps, and best of luck.  I know this must be super frustrating, and I feel your pain having had streamer issues myself.  Definitely worth sorting out though.

we run an atoll streamer wirelessly runs great

Buy a danm CD player, get rid of extra components, cables, hassle

Unlikely you get 1 gigabit from the wireless access point. If that access point has ethernet out connection try to wire your laptop to it and do a speed test.
I kind of doubt it is the bandwidth/speed issue though but I could be wrong so let’s eliminate that as a culprit.

Next move on to eliminate the USB as an issue. If your new USB cable doesn’t fix the problem, try a non usb connection to your dac (spdif, toslink or AES/EBU). See if that resolves it. Does sound like the DAC and streamer compatibility issues.

Also, post this problem on the Auralic forum. You might get some help there from Mr. Auralic himself.

Two other bits of info: 1) Wireless access point is only about 20 feet away and I have 1 Gbps internet.  2) Anthem DAC is 32bit 192Khz so I set the Auralic to that output max
