I enjoy my Paradigm DSP 3100. It integrates well with the Boxer sound. It won't go down to 20hz in my room but it does give me a pretty good, very musical 30-32. If you go to my page on this site that shows people's systems you'll see it lurking against the wall just left of my Boxers.

Hi rocket94, I rotate a pair of Boxer 2’s through two systems. In my small dedicated listening room, I run 3 HSU subs. I do not run them because I want window shattering bass,multiple subs smooth out the bass in your room. I will probably get roasted for my next statement. In my secondary system in my finished basement, I wanted at least 2 subs,but was quite budget restrained. I picked up a pair of really cheap,and I mean cheap subs. I paid $132 for a pair of refurbished 8” subs. They even have high level connections. Now, I barely have the volume up,and the crossovers are set at around 50hz. They serve their purpose. They fill in the lower ranges pretty decently. You really don’t know they are on,until you turn them off. When you do,you can hear the soundstage collapse,and of course you loose lower registers. This solution may not be audiophile approved,but it works for me. Best of luck,( the Boxers are really nice speakers!) Ray |
Thank you for all of your replies. The Boxer is a wonderful speaker that belies its price tag. It has a really engaging soundstage, tight bass and loads of detail. The little Bryston is a really good match. It just lacks that last tad of bass. I generally do not use subs because most of my past speakers, PSB, Dynaudio, and Aerial were 4ohm and I found no need for a sub. |

I recall thinking the Boxer was a great sounding Nola speaker, so kudos on
owning a pair.
I also run with SVS subs in my audio only setup and am using three, two SB-2000s and one SB-3000, all crossed at 50Hz in my 20x17x10 room with two openings. I’d like another one for four, and again, it’s not for sound volume. (My now removed REL B1 had way more than enough of that.) Rocray has it right. The concept is Distributed Bass Array (DBA) and it works.
My rather good REL Britannia B1 was run solo for audio but has now been removed
from the audio area since the three SVS are better. Set up properly, ultra-low bass is invisible; you’ll have a more open soundstage and the ability to hear the very lowest notes you didn’t hear before. Four decent $500+? subs will sound better than a good single sub always. I would still recommend SVS for an inexpensive and nice little sub and I’m sure the SB-1000 Pro is a fine sub for those Boxers if set up properly for the primary listening position.
