@lalitk
I am unclear from your post, are you a Tekton fan or one of mc disciples?
You must not have had your morning coffee yet, of course I am being facetious. You have one of my dream speakers. |
@lalitk
You're just sour grapes because you don't own Tektons, all you have is a pair of Tannoy Canterburys. Maybe next time you will listen to the guru and move up the food chain. |
Well you know, those of us who buy and sell, no matter how much or little, are the ones that support this forum financially. Hate to say it, but the rest are free loaders if you don't help out when you can.
I am a certified public accountant so I guess that is my orientation. |
Einstein, since you are continuing to put your messages on nonstop repeat I will repeat one of mine, since my original post was on the recently deleted thread.
It’s hard to believe that after plastering Audiogon with about 10,600 posts in two years that you are actually not selling your turntable on A’gon. Don’t you think a $65 fee to sell your turntable here is a small enough amount to pay to support and show your appreciation to this forum and its employees?
If I had not read another member mention it, I wouldn’t have believed it, but sure enough there it is on the free website: "FOR SALE: Teres Audio Verus Drive "Miller Carbon" Hall of Fame Turntable". |
I really still don’t understand how loud the speakers had to have been played to burn out the drivers, unless the amps were clipping. I would think it would be excruciatingly loud.
Also, I don’t understand the concept, but I have heard sometimes DC leakage can burn out drivers.
Never read any reports of this brand of speakers having drivers fail before, I'm sure lots of people crank it to 11.. |
I wish that those with more electronics knowledge than myself would chime in, but it could be that there is something wrong with your amplifiers.
I think you have several amps, have these been in use recently without problems? |
Yes, but starting off soldering around a million little paper tweeters may be a bit tricky. |
Jayctoy, I guess that you just exceeded the "120 Watt power handling" capability listed for the impact monitors on their website. Coincidentally, the B6s specify the same 120 watts max.
Again no expertise in these problems, and you are likely 100% correct, but I was a little surprised you would think a particular CD versus any other was the culprit. I imagine you are saying it was poorly recorded and happens to have a lot of mids/highs that pushed the drivers too much.
It does sound like all you need to do is replace the drivers and you are good to go. No more 10!!! (LOL) Wonder if the driver connection wires need to be soldered or hopefully just have push in connectors. |
I remember playing them 6 hrs straight that day, volume on the 10.
And he seemed like such a nice boy (LOL) |
@jayctoy
...my technicians upon looking at the tweeters said the tweeters don’t have rooms for heat...
Are the tweeters on the Tekton models that the specs say can handle much more wattage a different brand/type, or the crossovers different to protect them for burning out? |
@missioncoonery
I have never heard a Tekton and quite frankly am totally turned off by a certain poster with over 10,500 posts who owns them, so much so I wouldn't think of buying a pair just for that reason.
But you are on a real rip against the speaker company I think beyond my reasons and it would be fun to hear why. |
