Upgrading from. Rega Planar 6 to a Planar 8??

Greetings everyone. I currently own a Rega Planar 6/ Hana SL combo. Would like to know if the jump to a P6 is worth it. Love the current set up and would like to hear opinions from some of you.

Thanks so much.

Put a Lyra Delos on the P10 and it will be anything but bright and brittle. The Lowly Delos is better than any Hana cartridge and the RB3000 is one of the best tonearms made. Ultimately, all of these tables need to be on an isolation platform. I agree with you on Rega cartridges.

Mijo, since Rega design philosophy is not in keeping with your ideas on TT design, I’ve been wondering why and since when did you fall in love with the brand.

HI Glennewdick. I am aware that there are several improvements for Rega tables. The one that comes to mind first is all the Tango Spinner products. Just concerned about resale value since upgrades ultimately don't get you any more money on the used market. I would like to share that I bought the Blue Edward little belter and also Herbie's little mat and love these tweaks. The table originally came with the white belt which was ok. Out of curiosity I bought the Rega reference belt from Music Direct and it literally sucked and returned it after 10 hours. The wow, flutter and speed stability were awful.$80 for an atrocity. I also find it interesting that it got amazing reviews from several people. Both my wife and I are professional musicians and could not believe how lame the belt was. Back it went to MD. Thanks again for you responses.

"I’ve owned the P6, P8 and P10. The P6 is a very good turntable. The P8 is similar but noticeably better. The P10 sounds quite different, and is not necessarily an improvement, depending on personal preference. Personally, I prefer the P8 to the P10, which I find bright and somewhat brittle sounding.

As you like the P6, and the P8 is an improved version of the same sound, it is an easy recommendation. You can always improve the P8 later by replacing the arm with the RB3000, which is another modest but noticeable improvement."

I find the above comment by Rossb.....to be SPOT ON.

I have had the RP6, the P10 and the P8, I find the P8 to be the star of the line up

The P10 was good, but didnt kill me, maybe I just didnt get it on with the Apheta mk3 cart, maybe it was a combo thing etc,

Anyway not the 1st time I have preferred a lower priced product.....as always let your ears decide.......its better,......about the same....or not as good.

Thats how I do it...anything else is a black hole that never ends.
