Vic Chesnutt, RIP

The great Vic Chesnutt left us in December. For those of you not familiar with him, his masterpiece "West of Rome" is an Americana classic. Those of us who saw him perform won't soon forget his good humor, humanity, passion, and courage.

Thanks, Vic.

I was referring to the prior post claiming our healthcare system being the root of VC's problems.
Jdoris (John),

I think what Rwwear is referring to is the fact that Vic was wheelchair-bound as a result of a teenaged drunk driving incident, if memory serves.
That is sad news. I only recently came to know of him through his guest appearance with Cowboy Junkies, on their great anniversary remake, Trinity Revisited. The DVD of the entire concert is excellent as well. I don't know much more about him, but had made a mental note to check out what he's done on hearing him play with the Junkies. This is certainly a sad reminder to do just that. Thanks for the recommended CD's.
"I think drinking and driving was at the root of his troubles. Even he admitted that."

Could be. Not sure of the relevance here, though of course reminders not to drink and drive are often welcome.

yeah me too, my wife had just gotten me his last album for christmas, "at the cut" (which is great btw) & I saw the news when I looked up the album at allmusic.com on christmas day.....very sad, our healthcare system was the root of many of his troubles.
