I never turn off my solid state amp. I read that power cycle a SS amp can incure "stress" on the components. Any protential problems for leaving it on all the time? If you leave your SS amp on, do you turn the volume down to zero?
I now leave mine on all the time, as the first poster stated, if I will be out of town or a bad storm is coming through I power down the system. That being said my amp has been on for a little over a month now straight.
Pro: Leaving any component on all the time tends to keep everything thermally stable and avoid thermal shock: light bulbs fail most of the time when they are first turned on.
Con: Some amplifiers (e.g. Krell class A rather than class AB push pull) run so hot in idle that turning the amp off while idling is recommended by the manufacturer.
